Min 6/Max 15 Activity: #335237-01 Res/NR: $45/67 Ages: 21+ Delicious Living Lectures Presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory Supervisor: Patti Staley Delicious Living is a lecture series presented by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. ese lectures are FREE to Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory members. Min 5/Max 30 Growing Herbs Kim Ellson, horticulture educator at the University of Illinois Extension Program will discuss the diversity of herbs and the wildlife value of herbs for pollinators. Art of Infusion Liz Fiorenza, owner of Wind Ridge Herb Farm, will show how making vinegars using fresh fruit and herbs is simple and fun to do. Fermented Foods Demystified Cheryl Munoz from Sugar Beet Food Co-Op, and Dr. Paul Schattauer from e Green Medical Practice will share the art, history and medical benefits of fermentation. Workshop participants will prepare and inoculate logs with shiitake mushrooms, learn to care for and grow the mushroom log, and learn how to harvest their mushroom crop. is is an active workshop where you will be using power tools, getting dirty, and doing some liing. Take home two inoculated logs to start your own mushroom farm. Please wear appropriate clothing for this workshop and bring work gloves, if you have them. Materials cost is included in the class fee. Min 5/Max 12 Garden Plant Series Supervisor: Patti Staley Lovely Lilacs is the first in a three part series of "Good for your Home" plant lectures. Take just one, two or all three lectures! e first in the series, Lovely Lilacs, will explore the many different varieties of tried and true Midwestern lilacs, newer reblooming lilacs and common problems with lilacs! Gorgeous Hydrangeas will explore the many different varieties of tried and true Midwestern Hydrangeas, native Hydrangeas and common problems with Hydrangeas. Midwestern Native Grasses will explore the most common and popular native grasses, the difference between the ornamental cultivar selections of natives and good combinations for your home. Each participant will take home a small nursery starter container for your home aer each class.
