Dear Friends, Without a doubt, 2016 was a resoundingly successful year for the Pleasant Home Foundation. From Craft Beer to Edgar Allan Poe to Silent Movies, our programming has never been so diverse or engaging and we had record numbers of visitors grace our front steps. This year the front entry mahogany woodwork was restored, transforming the entire front façade of the house and reinstated the glory of the original design. In 2016 we saw our long-time neighbors, the Historical Society, leave Pleasant Home for their new digs on Lake Street. This move will open up two stories of space and unlimited potential for the Foundation to expand our mission and more closely engage our community. This year, our primary focus of fundraising and work on the house will be the full restoration of the art glass windows that flank the front entry. We would like to thank our outgoing President, Doug Gilbert, whose leadership kept us all on an even keeled path and we are indebted to his commitment to Pleasant Home. Liz is honored to be the incoming President of the Board for 2017 and Heidi looks forward to her fifth year with the Foundation. We are humbled by the professional expertise of our enthusiastic Board of Directors, staff and volunteers who help make Pleasant Home an important center to Oak Park.
