Sunday, March 10, 2:00-3:00P Biomimicry 101 with Rachel Hahs Have you heard of biomimicry? No? You are not alone! Come learn about this fascinating new field of science from a local expert. Scientists are learning the mysteries of how nature functions and are solving human problems using nature as inspiration for design. You will leave seeing the world and nature with new eyes! Min 5/Max 30 Learn & Grow Lectures e Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory Master Gardeners will highlight plants that will be available at this year's 30th Annual Plant Sale. Learn about them, how to use them, and how to successfully grow them! All lectures take place at 7:00P at the Conservatory. Registration is free to the public. Min 5/Max 30 Paper Flowers Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Fresh flowers are nice, but they don't last. Why don't you learn to make your own! Welcome in spring by constructing your own flowers and leaves using a variety of papers. Create a sweet bouquet that will last! All skill levels welcome. is is a multi- generational class. Min 6/Max 12 Beginning Birding Supervisor: Leah Pryor Birds are all around us including in our parks, yards and even in our streets. Have you ever wanted to know more about them? Join us for this introductory class to learn the basics of birding. You'll learn basic silhouettes, field marks and calls. Don't forget your binoculars because we will finish class with a short walk to practice your new skills through Austin Gardens! is class is appropriate for adults over the age of 18. Min 6/Max 16 Stamping & Card Making Supervisor: Megan Ulczak ink spring! Show thanks, appreciation and your creativity in this stamping and card-making workshop. A variety of materials, papers, stamps, stencils, and tools will be used. All skill levels are welcome! Workshop will be held at Pleasant Home. Min 6/Max 12 Try-It Wheel Throwing Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Want to give the wheel a try? Join us for an introduction to wheel techniques, discovery and exploration. No take-home projects in this class as it is purely an exploration workshop Urban Veggie Gardening Supervisor: Leah Pryor Urban veggie gardening has never been bigger. Learn the tips and benefits from some of the most successful Chicago urban veggie patches. Each participant will take home a tray of seedlings. Min 6/Max 14 You Say It's Your Birthday?! Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Everyone loves a birthday party! Come celebrate with us as we recognize famous artists in the month they were born. We will create our own artwork. Join us for a green cleaning workshop to learn how to clean your entire house with a few simple ingredients. Learn why green cleaners are better for your health and the environment! Each participant will leave with a starter green cleaning kit. Min 6/Max 20 Seasonal Sign Design: Spring and Growth Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Warm up your home or make a sweet gi for a loved one! Join us as we create seasonal decor to adorn any home. Sip on a glass of wine while you design a piece to fit your style using materials and planning support provided by the Park District. April - Spring May - Growth Min 6/Max 12 Spring Lawn Care Supervisor: Leah Pryor is class will show you how to rejuvenate your lawn aer the winter months with tips on de-thatching, irrigation, over-seeding and fertilizer applications, as well as how to start a spring lawn from seed. Information on morning water and pest disease control throughout the summer will also be covered. Join us while we discover a unique world in multicultural art.
