Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned aer martial arts belts. ere will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! Min 6/Max 20 Design Exploration at Cheney Mansion! Supervisor: Susan Crane Calling all future interior designers! Are you the next HGTV star? Join us for a hands-on introduction to Interior Design where you will learn about the basic principles and tools used to design your dream home. e program begins by taking you on detailed tour of Cheney Mansion with a focus on its design elements. See the Mansion like never before, exploring every floor of this historic home and learn about its unique design features. Aer an inspiring look at the Mansion, we will explore some of the most important tools used by Interior Designers. We will lead you through interactive exercises over this 3-day program to hone your creative skills and explore a career in home design. We will provide a nut-free snack. Min 6/Max 15 Mixed Media & Eco Friendly Art Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Traditional art supplies can be expensive, but making original artwork doesn't have to be! Join us as we upcycle and recycle materials that would otherwise be garbage. Create unique and eco-friendly works of art using materials you can find at home! All skill levels are welcome for this fun and earth friendly class. Min 6/Max 12 Youth Ceramics Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Students of all skill levels will learn to develop creativity in the ceramics studio. Pottery classes will cover: hand-building techniques, scoring, coil pots, intro to the wheel and glazing. Wheel classes will cover centering, raising, opening, pulling and glazing. Min 4/Max 10 The Viola Project 2019 Summer Camps Using the works of William Shakespeare, e Viola Project unites and empowers girls from diverse backgrounds to stand up, advocate for themselves and demand inclusion. All youth ages 10-16 who culturally identify as girls and women are welcomed regardless of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation or ability.
