Send them to Game Club. Every month we bring in a wide assortment of games and consoles new and old for elementary aged kids. It's a way to try new games and meet other kid gamers. Min 5/Max 20 Teen Video Game Club Supervisor: Lucie Harrison Meet the other gamers in Oak Park. Explore the history and future of video games with our huge collection of consoles and video games. Min 5/Max 20 Amateur Astronomers Supervisor: Joe Lilly We live in a vast universe, come explore it with the Park District of Oak Park! Amateur Astronomers is your chance to learn how to utilize a telescope and get a personal look at nearby celestial objects such as the moon, mars, and constellations. No previous experience required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own telescopes! Light snacks will be provided to enjoy under the night sky. Min 4/Max 10 Safe Sitter Essentials Supervisor: Lucie Harrison Featuring updated curriculum from Safe Sitter Inc.! Safe Sitter prepares students to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who's choking, and helpful information like what to do if there's severe weather. e lessons are filled with fun activities and role- playing exercises. A pizza lunch is included! Safe Sitter course content includes: Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering. Life & Business Skills: e ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success. Students practice these skills through various role plays. Min 5/Max 15 D&D Adventures Supervisor: Lucie Harrison Explore dungeons, battle monsters, find treasure! D&D Adventures will teach the ins and outs of tabletop role playing. Create characters, learn the rules and embark on an adventure that will fill the day with adventure and imagination. Min 3/Max 10 Roaring 20's Party Supervisor: Lucie Harrison e bigger the party the better, so grab your friends and come on down to a Roaring 20's themed party, Old Sport. Enjoy party food of the period as well as art deco décor to supply some ideal photo- ops. Dressing of the period is encouraged by all participants, but not required. Min 4/Max 10 Teen Trips Supervisor: Lucie Harrison Join Teen Scene Camp on a few of their most popular excursions! Min 1/Max 8 Middle School Holiday Trip Supervisor: Lucie Harrison Why spend your day off of school stuck at home? Sign up and get out in the world with the Park District. We have a unique and fun trip planned for every D97 holiday and institute day. Kick off your summer with games, laser tag, and more. Min 15/Max 30 This symbol indicates programs open to both children and adults. Register on your own or sign up with a grandparent, nanny, neighbor, friend, etc.
