4 www.pdop.org 4 Board of Park District Commissioners Regular Park Board Meetings are generally held on the third ursday of each month and the Committee of the Whole (COW) Meetings are generally held on the first ursday of the month. All meetings are held at 7:30P at the John L. Hedges Administrative Center, 218 Madison Street, Oak Park. Public comment is welcome at these meetings. ere is no COW meeting in August. Kathleen Porreca Treasurer Kathleen.Porreca@pdop.org Christopher Wollmuth Secretary Christopher.Wollmuth@pdop.org Jake Worley-Hood Commissioner Jake.Worley-Hood@pdop.org Sandy Lentz President Sandy.Lentz@pdop.org David Wick Vice President David.Wick@pdop.org Dear Residents, e Park District has positioned itself to serve the multi-faceted needs of our growing senior population with the purchase of Dole Center and the merger of the Senior Citizens' Center of Oak Park River Forest (SCCOPRF) programs into the Park District. e Park District currently offers an Active Adult Membership (see page 16) which includes specific free and discounted programs, as well as other benefits. is membership will expand to include new SCCOPRF programs at Dole Center beginning this fall. e cost for an Active Adult/SCCOPRF Membership will be $50 annually. Scholarships are available through the District's scholarship program. Please check the Park District website at pdop.org/seniors beginning September 1 to receive updates on new and upcoming Dole Center Active Adult Membership programs. New Registration System In response to community feedback regarding problems with the Park District's current program registration system, a new system is being rolled out for our winter registration. Amilia, the new soware vendor, offers an intuitive registration process that will significantly improve registrants' experience. Establishing a household in the system, which will be required for all Park District patrons, is easy and can be accomplished online without waiting. Look for more details online at pdop.org or when your winter brochure arrives on December 1. FREE Programs e Park District has taken free programming to a whole new level in recent years. To ensure recreation for all, we offer free monthly movies in Scoville Park and the popular Walk with a Doc program at Lindberg Park through the fall. In partnership with NASA Ambassador, Mark Benson, we are offering monthly Telescope Nights through the end of the year at various park locations. Our brand new pop-up bike visits two parks each weekday throughout the summer offering kids' games, cras and more for FREE! e Parks Passport Program offers 10 park adventures for kids throughout the summer. Pick up your passport at Ridgeland Common or the Gymnastics and Recreation Center today and you're off ! We are bringing fun to different neighborhoods throughout the summer with Neighborhood Nights. Finally, many free annual special events are offered throughout the year including the Egg Hunt, Doggie Scramble, Kids Fest, and Fall Fest. We hope you enjoy these free program offerings, and we look forward to offering even more activities in the future. Join the fun at Fall Fest 2019, one of the many free programs offered by the PDOP.
