All meetings are held at 7:30P at the John L. Hedges Administrative Center, 218 Madison Street, Oak Park. Public comment is welcome at these meetings. ere is no COW meeting in August. In response to community feedback, the Park District of Oak Park is rolling out a new registration system that's easy and intuitive starting today. You simply need to set up your new account at pdop.org (even if you have an account set up already in our old registration system) and view our winter program offerings. Program registration begins at 8:30am on Saturday, December 14. Here are a few conveniences to look forward to: • Residency will be confirmed automatically for most addresses • Download the phone app which allows you mobile access to the rink, pool and other facilities • Email registration confirmations can be synched with your personal calendar • Use your Facebook or Google account to set up an account, sign-in and register Let us know what you think about the new system at info@pdop.org. Park District Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award For the 10th year in a row, the Park District has received the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. is prestigious award reflects the Park District's commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. Grant Awarded for Dole Center Computer Lab e Park District of Oak Park is pleased to announce the receipt of a $30,000 grant award from the Kott Memorial Trust for the purchase, installation and staffing of a computer lab at Dole Center, which is serving a multi-generational audience. e Park District plans to hire knowledgeable staff to deliver classes to seniors on topics such as internet safety, Word and Excel, how to Skype, setting up LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram accounts, how to use phone apps and a host of other topics. Many of these classes will be free for those with Active Adult Memberships and at a nominal fee for anyone with an interest in any of these topics. In addition, staff will be available at designated times for individual assistance. e computer lab is scheduled to open in March 2020. e Survey Results are In e results of the Park District's community survey are in. Here is a snapshot of the results. To review the entire survey report, please visit pdop.org/2019pdopsurvey. • Survey respondents rated the overall value they receive from the Park District at 8.0 on a 0-10 scale. • ree in five residents are unaware of the Park District's needs-based scholarship program. For details please visit. pdop.org/scholarship. • 92% of 2019 survey respondents visited a park or facility in the past 12 months. • e most requested programs were adult and senior sports and exercise classes followed by foreign language and cultural activities. ere is a perception that the Park District is just for kids when, in fact, the District is now offering more adult and senior programs than ever. • Nearly 50% of respondents expressed a need or interest in a fitness center, indoor pool and indoor track for their household. However, 80% of respondents stated a Community Recreation Center (CRC) is needed in Oak Park if it is constructed without a tax increase. Enjoy is Holiday Season!
