About Pleasant Home
Pleasant Home, a National Historic Landmark, was
built in 1897 and is an early example of Prairie Style
architecture. Its architect, George Washington Maher,
a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, used repetitive
decorative motifs throughout the house to make a unified
design. e first owner of Pleasant Home was John Farson
who was known as a great philanthropist and wealthy
investment banker.
Tours
Join us ursday through Sunday for tours of Pleasant
Home. Guided tours of the home, led by docents, are
offered at 12pm and 1pm for $10. Self-guided tours of
the first floor are offered from 2-4pm for just $5. Visit our
