4 www.pdop.org 4 Board of Park District Commissioners Regular Park Board Meetings are generally held on the third ursday of each month and the Committee of the Whole (COW) Meetings are generally held on the first ursday of the month. All meetings are held at 7:30P at the John L. Hedges Administrative Center, 218 Madison Street, Oak Park. Public comment is welcome at these meetings. ere is no COW meeting in August. We understand that in these extremely difficult times, you need to get outdoors, spend quality time with family and friends, enjoy time to be creative, get some exercise, reduce stress, explore a new interest, or simply sit quietly. We hope through the programs we are offering this fall, you will find what you need to help you emerge happy, strong and peaceful when this challenge is behind us. We want to share with you some of the steps we are taking to heighten safety, embrace new initiatives. and support our residents. • All-Day Childcare: e Park District is working with School District 97 to meet the needs of working parents by offering all-day childcare at Whittier and Lincoln Schools. In addition to a D97 subsidy for children in the free and reduced lunch program, the Park District is offering scholarships and the childcare discount membership program to those families who need help with program costs. • Virtual FLW Races: We want to continue the tradition of the Frank Lloyd Wright Races by offering a virtual 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk and the Youth Mile. All participants will receive this year's uniquely designed race t-shirt. • Public Skate by Reservation: To stay within State guidelines for facility capacity, we are taking reservations up to one week in advance for public skate hours. • Lowered Program Maximums: For the health and safety of our program participants, we have significantly decreased the maximum number of participants accepted for several programs. • Water Fountains: Water fountains in all of our parks will not be available through the end of the year due to concerns with mouths near the actual fountain and visitors pushing the button. • Oak Park Conservatory: is community treasure is now open six days a week with a limit of 30 visitors at a time allowed in the show rooms. Social distancing and masks are required. • Facilities & Customer Service: At this time, all indoor facilities, except the Oak Park Conservatory, are open only for specific programs and are not open to the general public. Customer service locations at GRC and RCRC are closed. Customer service can be reached at (708) 725-2000 Monday-Friday from 8:30A to 5:00P and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00A to 4:00P or by emailing info@pdop.org. • Dog Park Permits: Not only are these permits free to residents, we have made it easier to obtain your permit. Simply email your application and all required documentation to info@pdop.org. • Fall Virtual Programs for your convenience and safety: See inside for Adult Ballet, Wine Tasting, Murder Mystery Zoom Party, Composting, Spring Bulb Planting, Adult & Youth Boxing and Kickboxing, Tai Chi, QiGong, and Kindermusik. • Petite Weddings: With the cancellation of weddings and other special occasions during the COVID Crisis, the Park District is offering a special wedding package for up to 50 guests at Cheney Mansion.
