For more details, visit pdop.org/scholarships Scholarships for All Ages Scholarship funds for residents of all ages are available to assist low-income individuals and families in participating in Park District of Oak Park programs. Funding for up to 75% of program fees is available with funding limits per each family member. ese funds are provided by the Park District of Oak Park and by the Oak Park Township. Applicants must provide all information requested on the Scholarship Application and pay the approved, but reduced, amount of program fees. Allow up to one week for processing once you have submitted the Scholarship Application and supporting documentation. Park District Receives State Recognition For the fih year in a row, the Park District of Oak Park was the recipient of the Illinois Association of Park District's Best Green Practices Award. We were recognized for the Passive House design and construction of the Carroll Center addition which uses superinsulation and airtight construction along with continuous mechanical ventilation to achieve a comfortable building temperature year round while using very little energy. Museum Grant Awarded for Pleasant Home e Park District of Oak Park was recently notified by the Office of Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources that our community will receive a $421,500 grant for the installation of a geothermal system in Pleasant Home. By adding air conditioning to this National Historic Landmark built in 1897, the Park District will be able to preserve Pleasant Home's interiors while allowing for increased programming, special events and tours in the summer for guests locally and around the world. e project is slated to begin in fall 2021 and will take approximately six months to complete. Longfellow Park Awarded Environmental Recertification e Park District of Oak Park is proud to announce Longfellow Park has earned environmental recertification from the Sports Turf Managers Association based on the District's management and maintenance practices. e Park District of Oak Park continues to strive to be a leader in sustainability in the Parks & Recreation industry across the country. District Receives GFOA Budget Award for 10th Year Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the Park District of Oak Park for its Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2020. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as a financial plan, as an operations guide, and as a communications device. is is the tenth consecutive year in a row the District has earned this prestigious recognition.
