Where do you start? What questions do you ask? What is included in their services and how do I decide on a menu? Join us at Pleasant Home for insights from our event team in the Park District to answer these questions and guide you through the ins and outs of working with a catering company. We will have a snack and enjoy a glass of wine or beer while you take notes and listen to shared experiences. Res Fee $20 - Fee $25 Supervisor: Susan Crane Ghosts by the Gaslight Saturday, April 10, 7:00-9:00P Early April is when the Fox Sisters are rumored to have started spiritualism, so join us at Pleasant Home along with professional ghost hunters Jason Sherman and Anthony Szabelski for an evening exploring spiritualism in the Victorian age. Pleasant Home is the perfect setting to learn the history of spiritualism and then have demonstrations on how mediums might have contacted spirits and maybe even contact the spirits residing at Pleasant Home and Mills Park! Appetizers and two drink tickets are included in your registration. Ages 21+ Res Fee $40 - Fee $53 Supervisor: Susan Crane Mother's Day Picnic on the Porch Sunday, May 9, 12:00-1:30P Enjoy the ease of Sunday and celebrating Mom by bringing her to a casual picnic lunch on the front porch of Pleasant Home. A lovely springtime lunch and, of course, lemonade is included in your registration. Moms, bring along your favorite story to read, and we will have checkers on the porch and a game of graces on the lawn! Some old-time fun in the grace of Pleasant Home. Price is per couple and a fee for additional guests is available. Italy is home to more native grapes than any other region in the world, so you will enjoy tastings and understanding of regions, terminology and condensing this down to be able to purchase and enjoy lovely wines from Italy. Friday May 21 7:00-7:45P • 7:45-8:30P • 8:30-9:15P • 9:15-10:00P Join the Park District, Pleasant Home Foundation and the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest for an evening enjoying the history of Oak Park in three fabulous locations. Begin your evening at the Historical Society located at 129 Lake Street and their unique and interesting artifacts, move onto Cheney Mansion located at 220 N. Euclid to tour the beautiful grounds and expansive house. Appetizers and drinks available at each location. en end your evening at Pleasant Home located at 217 Home for a docent-led "candlelight" tour of this historic home and enjoy dessert, a complimentary sparkling wine or coffee/ tea. In order to follow IDPH and Health Department guidelines, we have four timeslots for you to begin your travels, and all timeslots begin at the Historical Society and end at Pleasant Home. Sick of doing puzzles? Need a change of scenery and meet new people? Welcome to an evening of socializing and playing old-fashioned parlor games with a modern twist at historic Pleasant Home. Parlor games are very simple and spark conversations and laugher all around. We'll play a series of games while enjoying music and appetizers. April 19, 21 & 23, 10:00-10:45A May 17, 19 & 21, 10:00-10:45A e front porch at Pleasant Home is the perfect place this spring to join nationally known story performer and Oak Park resident, Chris Fascione act out the best of classical and contemporary children's literature and folktales in a fun-filled participatory morning tailored for 3-5 year olds. His unique combination of storytelling, mime, juggling, and comedy creates colorful characters who tell their stories as laughter abounds for both parent and child! Price is per one child and one accompanying adult. An additional fee is available if you wish to add extra guests to your twosome! Plan one morning or all three in either April or May!
