Add ribbon and a variety of foliage to create the ultimate accessory to welcome spring. All materials and instruction included. One crown per person. Ages 10+ Res Fee $18 - Fee $23 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Min 5/Max 8 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Batik Floral Paintings Sunday, May 2, 1:00-3:00P Batik is the art of using wax and inks/watercolors on paper or fabric. e wax resists the ink and water color creating a bold contrast between line and color. In this 2-hour class, participants will use melted wax in a variety of colors and watercolor paints on thick paper, craing a vivid piece of art. Designs and all supplies and instruction provided. Add a touch of whimsy to your space with a hanging 3D version of this unique cra. Participants will use a variety of materials to build this mixed media sculpture. Ages 10+ Res Fee $25 - Fee $30 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Min 5/Max 8 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Introduction to Suminagashi Paper Marbling Saturday, May 8, 12:00-2:00P Suminagashi translated means floating black ink. It is the ancient meditative Japanese practice of gently floating pigments on the surface of water with a brush and then capturing the mono print image on an absorbent paper. is exciting 2-hour workshop will present historical background and introduce the time-honored technique and several artistic possibilities. Class topics include: • Review Suminagashi patterns with samples of optional papers • Review of supplies and preparation • Suminagashi demo • Students practice of line control with individual coaching Each student will leave with at least 10 beautiful Suminagashi images and gain enough experience to continue on their own. Saturday, May 8, 2:00-4:00P Inspired by our favorite pop artists like Warhol, Johns, and Lichtenstein, participants will take preprinted images of well-known pictures, shapes, or images and color them using pop art techniques to create the iconic style. Sunday, May 9, 1:00-3:00P Bring those special people in for an aernoon of painting and good times. Each pair will chose an image to split on two canvases. Hang them together for a fun wall decoration. A variety of examples will be available to the group, but participants are welcome to bring their own as well. Materials and instruction provided. We'll be creating eyes, ears, noses, mouths, etc. using earth friendly materials to give your trees a playful expression. Create as many features as you have time for. Materials vary. Instruction and supplies included. Ages 10+ Res Fee $15 - Fee $20 Location: Dole Center - Studio 3 Min 5/Max 8 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Pony Bead Sun Catchers Saturday, May 15, 2:00-4:00P Take advantage of the extra sunlight in your home or garden. We'll use translucent pony beads melted together to build one of a kind circular sun catchers. Add a few together to make a longer design or create a couple for friends and family.
