Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. Tricks are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age, and you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session! Ages 5-12 Res Fee $20 - Fee $25 Location: Andersen Center Min 6/ Max 15 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Get the Dirt – Your Garden Questions Answered Tuesday, May 18, 7:00-8:00P Join us for this live virtual Q & A session to get gardening advice and tips from our plant experts. Plus, you will learn what to be doing now in your garden. Submit questions in advance or come with your questions and our panelists will guide you. Ages 18+ Supervisor: Patti Staley International Biological Diversity Day Saturday, May 22, 1:00-2:30P Wow, what a tongue twister! It's a fancy way of saying this is a day to celebrate the amazing variety of life on earth! Let's do a BioBlitz in Austin Gardens to see how many species we can find living in our park, along with a fun nature scavenger hunt. Ages 7+ Res Fee $12 - Fee $15 Location: Austin Gardens Min 4/Max 8 Supervisor: Mike Loszach Intergenerational Clothing Swap! Friday, May 28, 11:00A-2:00P Fashion is an ever changing art and styles come back generation aer generation! If you have clothing/accessories/jewelry sitting in closets you'd love to pass on, or if you are looking for some new threads, this is the event for you! Donations are due by May 21 to be washed and sanitized. Location: Dole Center - Front Lawn Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Virtual Magic Class! A, B, and/or C Apr 1-May 31 45 minutes of instructional videos that teach kids how to do magic with household items (such as playing cards, rubber bands, crayons, etc). Each video starts with explaining the secrets to the tricks, and then children will practice everything in great detail. e children will have a blast with the class. And since this is online, it can be taken whenever it is convenient for your schedule. And the videos can be watched again and again. Your entire family can even take this class together! An email will be sent aer registration with instruction on how to watch. Ages 5-12 Res Fee $15 - Fee $20 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Virtual Balloon Animals A and/or B Apr 1-May 31 is class teaches how to make balloon animals. Learn techniques needed to take plain balloons and transform them into incredible balloon animals (like dogs, butterflies, fish, etc.). During this class, children will create their own balloon animals with Gary walking them through each step in the process. And this class isn't just for the kids; parents will have a blast if they join the experience. Ideal class age is 7 and above. (Note: you will need your own balloons and balloon pump, and they cost about $13.) Ages 5-12 Res Fee $15 - Fee $20 Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Let's Build It – Snap Circuits: Wacky Waves! ursdays, Apr 1-May 6, 6:30-7:30P Wacky Waves is an exhilarating, cutting-edge area of engineering. In this unit, students will design, build, and test various circuits and electronic projects. Instructors will guide students through core concepts of electrical engineering, introducing them to circuits and electrical components. Students will use hands-on projects and experiments to explore how electricity is part of our daily lives. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and build. Projects will include: various sound producing circuits, musical instruments, a simulated telephone, and even both their own radio...and radio station! Each student will receive an award on the last day of the session, as well as the opportunity to earn Energy Belts to demonstrate their learned skills!
