5 www.pdop.org in our parks Scholarships for All Ages Scholarship funds for residents of all ages are available to assist low-income individuals and families in participating in Park District of Oak Park programs. Funding for up to 75% of program fees is available with funding limits per each family member. ese funds are provided by the Park District of Oak Park and by the Oak Park Township. Applicants must provide all information requested on the Scholarship Application and pay the approved, but reduced, amount of program fees. Please contact Customer Service at (708) 725-2000 or info@pdop.org if you have questions regarding the application process. Allow up to one week for processing once you have submitted the Scholarship Application and supporting documentation. Note: Scholarship funds are not retroactively applied to registrations done prior. Unused funds do not roll over to 2022. Cubhouse Indoor Playground at Stevenson Center opens On October 2, the Cubhouse Indoor Playground once again welcomes children birth to age 5 to run and play indoors. e friendly, forest-themed indoor playground provides space for kids to climb and crawl, read and draw, and sort and build. Infants are welcomed in the dedicated Infant Area. Cubhouse is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9:00A-1:00P, and Tuesday & ursdays, 5:00-7:00P. See page 73 for more details. Geothermal system installation begins at Pleasant Home in September e Park District of Oak Park received a $421,000 grant for the installation of a Geothermal system in Pleasant Home from the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants Program. e Park District will install a ground source heat pump (geothermal) system with associated ductwork, pumps, piping and loop field to cool the facility in the warm months and supplement the current heating system in the winter months. is will provide air-conditioning which will work to preserve the 123-year old historic building and allow additional programming, special events, and tours. Fun fact, we will now be able to heat and cool the house for less than we currently pay just to heat! Still time to enjoy pools & splash pads ere is still plenty of time to enjoy Rehm and Ridgeland pools this summer as both are fully open through August 15. Both pools will be open with limited hours August 16-September 6 before closing for the season. Kids can cool off in one of four area Splash Pads through September 30. Splash Pads are located at Andersen, Field, Fox, and Longfellow Parks. Rehm Park reopens in September Look for new developmentally appropriate playground equipment including two zip lines a We-Go-Round, ADA-accessible synthetic turf playground surface, a picnic pavilion, restroom, game area with table tennis, baggo and the relocated Gaga pit from the east side of the park. An Illinois Department of Natureal Resources grant was awarded to the Park District for $400,000 in support of this project. Telescope Nights in our Parks are back! Join NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Mark Benson for an evening of telescope viewing of the moon, planets, and stars above, skies permitting. is is a FREE event and open to the public.
