58 www.pdop.org Supervisor: Chad Drufke youth sports RISE Girls Field Hockey Rise Field Hockey programs help you improve, learn and fall in love with the game of field hockey! Our spring sessions will focus on three weeks to build fundamental skills and three weeks to compete in small and large sided games. All athletes will be grouped by ability, age, and grade. Athletes will need a stick, mouthguard, and shin guards. Cleats or turf shoes are recommended. High-level advanced skills: shooting, hitting, corners, defensive tackling, pulls, etc. For our high school age athletes, we will focus on basic skills, and we will introduce more advanced skills. All these skills will support competitive high school play. ese practices are appropriate for all current high school players. For more information about equipment, visit www. risefieldhockey.com. 1000 Watts NFL Flag Football League What a better way to start your spring than with 1000 Watts NFL Flag Football League! Each session begins with a practice followed by two 20-minute halves. At the end of the session there is a single elimination tournament. e winner of each division will be crowned Super Bowl champs! Players will be placed on teams and receive their own NFL jersey and flag. Program runs eight weeks from Apr 9-May 28. Please note your game times will be determined and communicated aer registration period has completed. Oak Park Youth Baseball and Softball Classes (OPYBS) is is a skills class taught by coaches from Oak Park Youth Baseball and Soball, where general skills for the sport are taught for development. Baseball basics include throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, pitching and running the bases. Class not held: 5/30 Youth Boxing In a fun and safe outdoor environment, students will learn self-defense utilizing boxing techniques. Students learn how to punch, block and use boxing combinations depending on skill level achieved. Students become more physically fit and learn whole- body coordination. Golf Lessons is class focuses on grip, posture, putting, full swing and chipping taught by a trained golf instructor. Held at Fresh Meadows Golf Club located at 11302 Cermak Road in Hillside, IL. Beginning/Continuing Fencing En garde! Diana Unger, a certified coach with the United States Fencing Association with more than 25 years of fencing experience, will teach you the basics of fencing. Fencing requires patience, concentration, discipline and self-awareness. Self-confidence, self-control, and emotional strength gained from this sport will lead to a healthier lifestyle. Participants must purchase and bring their own fencing mask and jacket. Participants must obtain a $15 U.S. Fencing membership prior to the first day of class (www.usafencing.org). Participants must also bring a glove for the hand they write with. It does not have to be a fencing glove. Archery is for everyone! Our instructor is trained in adaptive archery and the elements used to make this sport accessible. Please contact us if there are any accommodations you may need. Youth Beginner Archery Mondays, 6:00 - 7:00P April-August Interested in shooting a bow & arrow? Sign up with our certified archery instructor who will encourage and coach all ages and levels. Classes will take place indoor with safety guidelines in place. All ten students shoot at the same time to maximize the time spent practicing, with two archers to one target.
