30 POOL LOCATIONS Aquatics SWIM ACADEMY Sign Up Now for Summer About Swim Academy We offer swim lessons for ages one through adult in group classes. Lessons aim to provide increased swimming ability, water awareness, and social growth through a progression of skill development and instructor interaction. Classes are available indoors and outdoors in both the mornings and afternoons. New this Summer! Attend swimming lessons three times a week! This summer we are offering a new session of swim lessons that will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. This session allows students to get more lessons in during the short summer months. Evaluation Day Sunday, April 27 from 10-11:30am OPRF High School East Pool FREE - No registration necessary! If you're not sure what level your child should be in, attend our swim evaluation day! Instructors will work with children in the pool for a short period of time and then provide a recommendation on what level to register for. Questions? Swim Lesson Registration The Park District of Oak Park Swim Academy teaches swimming following a specific progression of skill work from level to level. It is important to master one level before advancing to the next, as the skill work builds from the level before. In order for participants to be safe and learn swimming properly it is essential to enroll in the correct level matching the recommendation provided by the swim academy. For questions on registration and level placement please contact Jackie Sturtz at Jackie.sturtz@pdop.org. New to the Swim Academy? If this is the first time in swimming lessons, participants should register for Level 1 in their age group. If you have taken lessons before but are new the Park District, use the class descriptions to find the best fit. Registering for multiple sessions? It often takes more than one session to master the skills required prior to advancing. If registering for multiple sessions, we suggest registering for the same level each session. Refunds The Park District reserves the right to move participants in the wrong level based on ability. If no openings in the correct level exist, a full refund will be issued. All refunds must be requested 24 hours before a program meets for a second time or no refund will be issued. All refunds incur a $3 processing fee. If demand is sufficient, another class may open! Bad Weather? Call the Facility Conditions Hotline! Due to the limited availability of make-up days, all scheduled classes are held unless there are extreme weather conditions. Please call the Facility Conditions Hotline at (708) 725-2350 half an hour prior to your class to see if it is still scheduled, press 2 for swim lesson information. Most classes that are cancelled due to weather will be made up at the end of the session. Pool Birthday Parties available soon, see page 49 for more details. Semi Private Lessons for Swim Kids Level 1 & Level 2 Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Semi private lessons provide a 3:1 instructor to student ratio to offer more individual attention to each swimmer.
