You can remember these special people or mark these distinctive events by purchasing a personalized plaque at the base of a tree, park bench or other park amenity at one of the many Park District park sites. With many park renovation projects currently underway or in the planning stages, there is a wide variety of landscape amenities and locations from which to choose. This program is overseen by the Memorial Trust Committee. Over 500 plaques honoring loved ones and special events have been placed throughout the park system. For plaque installation in the summer, orders are due by March 1. Fall placement orders are due July 1. For more information on marking a milestone or getting involved in the Memorial Trust Committee, contact the Oak Park Conservatory at (708) 725-2400. Keep Our Parks Clean To reduce trash, keep our parks cleaner and increase environmental awareness and stewardship, the Park District has been working with our sports affiliates since 2009 to establish a Carry In/Carry Out Program during all sports events. We simply ask participants and spectators to take out whatever trash they bring into the park. We moved trash receptacles away from the fields and posted signs at the various playing sites. This program was initiated at one site and has grown to all Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball sites and all AYSO sites. We encourage all of our park patrons to follow the Carry In/Carry Out program. With our kids leading the way we can all be environmentally responsible. Please do your part to keep our parks clean. CARRY IN CARRY out
