46 Little Wing (Ages 2-3 & 4-5) Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Little Wing is an experiential preschool music program from the School of Rock. Students participate in weekly group sessions that incorporate games, singing, instruments and FUN into a structured educational setting. Students are introduced to rock and music through activities such as Band Rehearsal, Sound Detectives, and a Weekly Special, where students learn about a new instrument or aspect of music each week! This class will encourage children to love and appreciate music while learning fundamental such as rhythm, beat, and melody, as well as essential skills such as memory building, recognizing patterns, and introductory reading skills. Inspire your child to learn about, plan and love music. Min 8/Max 12 Mad Science: WORMS! (Ages 3-5) Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Young Mad Scientists will explore the wiggly squiggly world of worms and learn about how worms eat, move, and work to help make dirt. Children can take home a rubber worm with a viewer or even their own live worms to start composting at home. Min 10/Max 15 One Day Spring Plays (Ages 3-5) Supervisor: Amanda Heiman One Day Spring Play - Throw on your water proof gear, umbrella and all, to enjoy the changing season for one of the following spring play days. Each day has a different theme allowing children the opportunity to explore using their 5 senses by making something, playing something, or building something. These play days are a great place to meet new kids and adults in the area, just like you! April - Garden Gnomes: Who's watching over your garden? Join us as we explore what we find in different gardens, learn about the secert life of gnomes, and create our own garden protector be it a gnome, a fairy or a frog! This hands-on, sensory experience is a great way to spend a Saturday in Spring! May - Paint Play: How many different ways can you paint? With your: fingers, a brush, a spray bottle, a spatula, a fly's swatter, even with your feet . . . the possibilities are endless!! Come dressed for mess, as you spend your Saturday morning with us experimenting with different colors and different ways to paint! Min 6/Max 10 Mad Science: Butterflies (Ages 3-5) Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Learn all about the wonderful world of butterflies: where they come from, how they grow, and how they live. This Mad Science class will have you fluttering with excitement as you leave having conducted your own experiment and take home project! Min 10/Max 15 Bugs & Birds (Ages 4-6) Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Join us as we discover the signs of spring through: mud, rain, bugs & birds! What birds live in Oak Park; what do they eat? Why are bugs important; what do they have so many legs? Why do we need rain; why does it smell? As young scientists it is important to ask a lot of questions and during this 6 week program we will find some of the answers through hands on exploration, experimentation, and observation.
