Participants will be introduced to aikido techniques and philosophy, and will focus on breathing and posture, conditioning exercises, etiquette, and learning to roll and fall properly. Learning basic aikido movements should also be useful to participants in their daily lives. Taught by Deb Pastors, 3rd Degree Black Belt with over 20 years experience. Min 6/Max 15 Continuing Aikido (Ages 13 & Up) Supervisor: Chad Drufke Are you ready for a rigorous Martial Arts program? This course requires the completion of the Beginners Aikido course and the Instructor's consent. The focus will be on the requirements for rank testing. The pace is aerobic. Taught by Deb Pastors, 3rd Degree Black Belt with over 20 years experience Min 6/Max 15 Advanced Aikido (Ages 13 & Up) Supervisor: Chad Drufke Admission to this course requires Instructor's permission. The focus is on advanced body arts and Aikido weapons. Students must have taken a Continuing Aikido class. Taught by Deb Pastors, 3rd Degree Black Belt with over 20 years experience No class 7/4 Min 6/Max 15 Try out our Beginning Aikido program on F, Apr 4 from 6:30- 7:30pm at Stevenson Center for free! Martial Arts for Kids (Ages 6 - 14) Supervisor: Chad Drufke This class combines the Martial Arts of Universal Shorei-Goju, Tae Kwon Do, American Karate, and kickboxing. Children learn discipline, respect, honor, courtesy, and courage by practicing Martial Arts. Program manuals may be purchased from the instructor. Uniforms are recommended, not required.Instructor: Kenneth Young, Certified Karate Instructor, Black Belt in Universal Shorei-Goju, and Tae Kwon DoPlease note: Continuing requires 2 or more prior sessions of Beginning course and instructor permission. Min 6/Max 24 Little Dragons Tae Kwon Do (Ages 4 - 5) Supervisor: Chad Drufke This introductory class is designed to captivate the interest of our youngest students. Skills are developed through gentle instruction and games appropriate for their ability. This class focuses on developing balance, coordination, and respect for the discipline of martial arts training. Uniform fee ($45) is required at the first class. Min 4/Max 12 Early Tae Kwon Do (Ages 6-7) Supervisor: Chad Drufke Designed especially for ages 6-7, this program helps kids develop conditioning, coordination, listening skill, and self-confidence through creative activities. Uniform fee ($45) is required at the first class. Min 4/Max 20 Youth Tae Kwon Do (Ages 8 - 13) Supervisor: Chad Drufke This program includes a balanced cardiovascular workout including punching, kicking and blocking skills, using the Tae Kwon Do tradition and self- control. Students will improve coordination, power of concentration, balance, and both physical and mental discipline. Uniform fee ($45) is required at the first class. Min 4/Max 20 Parent/Child Tae Kwon Do (Ages 7 & Up) Supervisor: Chad Drufke This class provides families with a fun opportunity to spend time together while improving physical and mental conditioning through cardiovascular drills, calisthenics, and traditional Taekwondo techniques including punching, kicking, and blocking. Uniform fee ($45) is required at the first class. Please note: Parent/Child and Adult classes will train together. Min 4/Max 20 Adult Tae Kwon Do (Ages 14 & Up) Supervisor: Chad Drufke Restricted to high school students and older, this program concentrates on Taekwondo techniques through the study of forms, stances, and the skills of punching, kicking, and blocking. Uniform fee ($45) is required at the first class. Please note: Parent/Child and Adult classes will train together. Min 4/Max 15 Belt testing is offered through the K.H. Kim Taekwondo at an additional fee. Belt testing is not mandatory but encouraged for advancement. More information available through instructor.
