7 SPECIAL EVENTS Come to Scoville Park on Saturday, June 14 from 1-5:30pm to watch local teens compete for a chance to advance to the regional competition in July. Besides the opportunity to hear 6 great local bands, we'll have games and chances for the audience to win some really cool prizes just for showing up. And best yet...it's all FREE! Rain Location: School of Rock 219 Lake St. This event is sponsored by the Park District of Oak Park, the Oak Park Public Library, and School of Rock. Enter Your Band! Here's your chance to get your band heard! Any teen band is welcome to apply. Winning bands will take home some cool prizes and will have a chance to compete at regional and state levels, and all bands who participate will have access to an exclusive after party! Bands must consist of at least 2 members between the ages of 13 and 21 (and at least half of the band members must be no older than 19 years of age) as of August 16, 2014. Log on to www.pdop.org/teens for a complete set of rules and submission instructions. All Bands must submit the registration form and demo to Melissa Rimdzius at the Administration Office at 218 Madison by Friday, May 2 at 5pm. Live Auditions - New in 2014! Get a chance to show our judges why you deserve to play in the the Battle of the Bands! Bands who choose to sign up for the live audition on May 4th will have 20 minutes to perform for our judges on the stage at School of Rock (219 Lake Street in Oak Park). Audition time slots are available between 1pm and 5pm, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis; bands will be contacted to select a time slot once a registration form and demo has been received. (Ages 13-19) Band Coaching! Be sure to check out the private band coaching sessions being held at School of Rock on April 18. This is a perfect opportunity for bands to prepare for the big event with professional advice. See p. 60.
