Summer is a time to develop educa- tion you won't get at school - education in fun! At SPARK, we focus on developing SKILLS, fostering PLAY, providing ADVENTURE and promoting RECREATION for KIDS. This camp is sure to SPARK the spirit within you. Camp includes swim lessons Monday- Friday! Jr. SPARKers start to learn independence from parents as they develop individuality and friendships with fellow campers. Dexterity is practiced through arts and crafts to improve fine-motor skills and games are played to enhance hand-eye coordination. Plus, enjoy flexibility with this camp and register for 2-, 3-, or 5-days per week - whatever suits your sched- ule! Kids in this camp should be at least 4 years old by the first day of the session, but not old enough to enter Second Grade in the Fall. Summer is a time to develop education you won't get at school - education in FUN. At SPARK, we focus on developing SKILLS, fostering PLAY, providing ADVENTURE and promoting RECREATION for KIDS. This camp is sure to SPARK the spirit within you. SPARKers who are entering grades 1-3 begin taking adventures on field trips once per one-week session. They will also work on teamwork and cooperation concepts through game play. Crafts become more complex and attention is placed on giving campers the opportunity to explore new hobbies. Campers also get to experience instructional swim time three days per week (inluding one day of water safety education), along with free-swim time afterward. SPARKers who are entering grades 4-6 have the maximum adventure experience through weekly field trips and specialty classes, such as archery and ice skating. Campers are given the opportunity to expand independence and develop personal accountability through teamwork and problem-solving games with fellow-campers. Crafts become more skill-based and personalized, and of course get some fun in the sun through visits to the pool three days a week. Campers will walk to and from the pool, but bus transportation will be provided in cases of excessive heat. Please note that campers will not swim on June 9, the first Monday of the summer. Flexible pickup until 3:30pm is available for families with campers at multiple Park District of Oak Park camps for optimum convenience.
