All participants will learn cool new strategies at the appropriate level from a renowned Chess Scholars coach. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will also be a chess competition with prizes! Each camper will take home a chess set and an award. Min5/Max 20 Class does not meet: 12/24, 12/25 Hot Wheels Challenge Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Start your engines and get ready to race! Various Race tracks will be set up for all little speedsters to test their cars! In addition, we'll have a mini course with remote controlled cars. Each participant will receive a hot wheels car and pizza lunch. Min 6/Max 18 Winter Design Camp Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This camp is designed for students to explore their creativity. A new project and medium will be introduced each day. Daily themes will be: Colors & Collages; Prints, Pencils and Pastels; NMO- Nature, Murals and Odd Art; 3D Art. Students will create projects indoors and out (weather permitting) . . . come ready to explore the world of design & art in our "creative studio." Min 8/Max 24 Pre Engineering using Lego® Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars, and use special pieces to create your own unique design! Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young builders for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals. Min 11/Max 16 Class does not meet: 12/24,12/25 Engineering FUNdamentals using Lego® Supervisor:Amanda Heiman Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO®! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, motorized cars, and the Battletrack! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level. Min 11/Max 16 Class does not meet: 12/24, 12/25 Super Hero Master Engineering With Legos Supervisor:Amanda Heiman LEGO® Super Heroes need your help to defeat the destructive forces of evil arch-villains as they threaten LEGOpolis! Explore the tools and techniques of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but super engineers. An engineering curriculum designed by Play-Well challenges heroes to design, build, and save a city where imagination can solve any conflict. Min 11/Max 16 Class does not meet: 12/31,1/1 Super Hero Engineering using Lego® Supervisor:Amanda Heiman Save the world with LEGO® Super Heroes! Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers! An experienced Play-Well instructor guides young heroes as they design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict. Min 11/Max 16 Class does not meet: 12/31,1/1 Strategy for Kids Supervisor:Amanda Heiman This class is an exciting opportunity for your child to develop logic, problem solving, and planning skills. Every class, each child will learn two or three new skill-based games (no luck or chance involved!). Both team and individual games will be played. There will also be a tournament with prizes.
