43 Chess Scholars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman No previous knowledge of chess is necessary: players of all levels are welcome. Each class consists of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt ® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! Min 5/Max 20 Magic Class!! Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn fascinating tricks from a professional magician! Amaze your family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and will learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session. Min 5/Max 35 Manners Do Matter Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Social graces learned at an early age will never go out of style. Instead they can be used as a stepping stone to achieve great goals. Your mealtime will become a truly enjoyable event. In this class your child will learn proper greetings, telephone courtesies, the importance of RSVPing and thank you notes, the ABC's of dining, table posture and setting . . . and much more. Mealtime will become a truly enjoyable event! Each child will receive take home materials to share with all family members and be used as a future reference. Ms. Manners requests you be on time and dress in our best. Boys-shirt and time (sports coat optional), Girls- dress or suitable pants outfit. Min 8/Max 20 Mighty Mathematicians Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This class is an exciting way for your child to practice their math skills while having fun. Math enrichment activities include Magic Money Machine, making a Magic Band, and working out a Magic Square. We also find out how many pieces of candy can fit in the classroom, talk about symmetry, and play math card games, among many other fun math-related activities. We will also play team games with prizes. Your children will come home with a passion for math and a greater understanding of math's real-world applications.. Min 5/Max 20 Engineering FUNdumentals using Lego® Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO®! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, motorized cars, and the Battletrack! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level. Min 11/Max 16 Pre Engineering using Lego® Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars, and use special pieces to create your own unique design! Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play- Well instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young builders for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals.
