6 SPECIAL EVENTS Family Overnight Campout at Taylor Park 6:30 pm F, Sep 12 - 9am Sa, Sep 13 Supervisor: Jessica Heim Get an introduction to camping at a site close to home! Roast marshmallows and listen to stories around a campfire, enjoy breakfast in the morning, and participate in other fun activities planned for you and your family. A personal supply list will be e-mailed prior to the campout. Fee listed is per tent - must be registered by an adult age 18+. Please indicate how many family members you will have in each tent when registering! $35 Oak Park Residents / $50 Non-residents Activity Code 461920-01 Tent rental available for $25 - Limited qty! Min 8/Max 40 Great Pumpkin Smash M, Nov 3 from 6-7pm Supervisor: Jessica Heim Don't know what to do with that old pumpkin? Why not smash it off the top of Barrie Sled hill and enter your carved work of art in the smooshiest and squishiest event of the season? Special prizes will be awarded to the pumpkins that squish the most, and more! The fee is per pumpkin participating. Local Bands Wanted Calling Local Bands: Submissions Due NOVEMBER 1 To Be A Part Of Our 2015 Summer Concert Series Are you a local band that would like to be considered for our Summer Concerts in the Park? We would love to hear from you! All submissions for the Summer Concerts in the Park are due November 1, 2014. Please provide a demo cd/ video/ audio link, as well as a website (if available), 2 references and your contact information. We will consider all submissions and get back to you in late December. Supervisor: Jessica Heim Bring your blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy these free movies this summer and fall! Come join us at 7 pm- all movies begin then or as soon as it gets dark! W, Aug 13: "Annie" at Carroll Park This 1982 version of the Broadway musical is fun for the whole family! Rated PG, 127 minutes. F, Sep 5: "Despicable Me 2" at Barrie Park Presented by SEOPCO The South East Oak Park Community Organization presents this showing of "Despicable Me 2," rated PG. Gru is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help deal with a powerful new super criminal. Running time is 98 minutes. Su, Sep 7: "All Dogs Go to Heaven" at Maple Park Bring your pooch to the Dog Park (permit req'd, see page 81) and then stick around for this song-filled feature cartoon from 1989. Rated G, 89 minutes. (Dogs must remain leashed when not in the dog park area) Sa, Oct 11: Halloween Double Feature at Austin Gardens! "Toy Story of Terror" followed by "Poltergeist" Bring the whole family for a spooky double feature just in time for All Hallow's Eve! "Toy Story of Terror," is rated G and runs 30 minutes, perfect spooky fun for the little ones. For a more mature audience, we'll follow it up with the scary classic "Poltergeist" from 1982 (rated PG-13 for frightening scenes/scary images, language, smoking and some thematic material). Running time 114 minutes. Spooky Skate at the New RCRC! F, Oct 31 from 6-8:30pm Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz Playing dress up is fun, and dressing up on Halloween is even more fun. Once you've raided the neighbors' candy bowls, head on over to RCRC for a fantastic Spooky Skate with all of your friends. Keep those costumes on as this fright fest will be about as cool as the ice! Fee: $7 or free with ice arena season pass Fall Family Fun Cosmic Skate at the New RCRC! Sa, Nov 15 from 7:30-10pm Supervisor: Jackie Sturtz There is nothing better than heading down to the brand new RCRC for an evening skate. Wait a minute, there is! We're turning down the lights and turning up the fun. Cosmic skate is a great way for you and your friends and loved ones to spend the evening skating away under the glowing lights, while the DJ plays your favorite tunes. Come on out for a little Saturday Night Fever for the greatest skate the area has to offer. Fee: $10 or $5 with a season pass Barrie Fest in Barrie Park Sa, Sep 13 from 1-5pm Presented by SEOPCO Live music, food, bounce houses, pet parade and business fair.
