Maher. Pleasant Home is one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie architecture in the country and has one of the best-preserved interiors of that design era, featuring extraordinary art glass, custom furniture, intricately carved woodwork, and unique design details. The Pleasant Home Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1990, is dedicated to restoring, preserving, and operating this historic house museum. Rent Pleasant Home for Your Special Event The many spacious rooms, layout, and expansive windows looking onto the four-acre park make Pleasant Home a truly wonderful setting for the most intimate meetings or festive affairs: corporate meetings, luncheons, private parties, wedding ceremonies, and receptions. John Farson, a civic leader in the Oak Park community, was the original owner of the home and frequently opened his residence and grounds for grand gatherings. Driehaus Foundation Twilight Tours Thursday evenings at 7:00pm - Jan. 8, Feb. 12 and March 12 at Pleasant Home Experience the beauty of historic Pleasant Home at night! Annual Meeting Tuesday, March 24 at 7pm located at Pleasant Home Executive Director and Board Chairs will review 2014 and look forward to plans for 2015 including restoration, programming and tourism. Celebrate the 150th birthday of Pleasant Home architect, George Maher! Architectural historian, Kathy Cummings, will present information and photographs from his life and portfolio of work. Thresholds Magic Performance by Jeanette Andrews Four showings at 7:30pm - April 22, 23, 24 & 25 Jeanette Andrews will astound everyone as she shatters the mold of a traditional magic performance. This totally unique experience, created specifically for Pleasant Home, is composed of a distinctive blend of magic, psychology, science, and art. With Jeanette as their guide, audience members will wind their way through the ornate rooms of Historic Pleasant Home, experiencing highly interactive magic designed for each of the five senses.
