62 May 9: Superhero LEGO ® Save the world with LEGO® Super Heroes! Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers! Young heros will design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict. May 9: Superhero Master LEGO® LEGO® Super Heroes need your help to defeat the destructive forces of evil arch-villains as they threaten LEGOpolis! Explore the tools and techniques of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but super engineers. An engineering curriculum challenges heroes to design, build, and save a city where ingenuity & imagination can solve any conflict. Apr 25: Construction Vehicles & Machines with LEGO ® Dig into engineering with big trucks, construction vehicles, and super machines. Explore the engineering terms, concepts, and vocabulary behind large-scale building machines. Build and learn about steamrollers, bulldozers, wrecking balls, tower cranes, and more while playing with your favorite building system: LEGO! Apr 25: Robotics Using LEGO ® Build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms system! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment. Magic Class! Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn fascinating tricks from professional magician Gary Kantor. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and will learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session! Min 5/Max 35 Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor in these one day, themed, Saturday workshops. Min 11/Max 16 New! Mighty Mathematics Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This class is an exciting way for your child to practice their math skills while having fun. Math enrichment activities include Magic Money Machine, making a Magic Band, and working out a Magic Square. We also find out how many pieces of candy can fit in the classroom, talk about symmetry, and play math card games, among many other fun math-related activities. We will also play team games with prizes. Your children will come home with a passion for math and a greater understanding of math's real-world applications. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts.
