Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn fascinating tricks from professional magician Gary Kantor. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind- reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are pro- vided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and will learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session! Min 5/Max 35 Science: My Incredible Body Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Are you fascinated by the human body? Come out and learn more about how our body works. We will learn about the cells that make up our organs and will have an opportunity to view them using a microscope. Each class will include a hands-on activity such as making an edible cell and investi- gating how blood moves through our heart. Min 4/Max 14 Guitar Stars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Learning to play the guitar is fun! In Guitar Stars, the children will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing, including holding the guitar and pick, proper fret-hand finger position, sight reading, playing by ear, and playing basic songs. Also, as the children progress, they will have the opportunity to test for "Guitar Belts", a fun motivational system patterned after martial arts. Each child will receive a participation award and guitar-related prizes. Min 5/Max 20 "Lets Build It" Engineering Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This class takes a hands-on approach to engineer- ing, allowing students to directly engage with basic engineering concepts through a variety of fun and educational activities. Students will improve their problem solving, math, and physics skills - all while engaging in exciting building projects. Each day focuses on a specific area of engineering, like flight, bridge building, and tower construction. The unit will culminate in a testing of students' final projects and each student will recieve an award for their progress during the class. Min 5/Max 20 Chess Scholars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman No previous knowledge of chess is necessary: play- ers of all levels are welcome. Each class will con- sist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess BeltĀ® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session!
