Maher. Pleasant Home is one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie architecture in the country and has one of the best-preserved interiors of that design era, featuring extraordinary art glass, custom furniture, intricately carved woodwork, and unique design details. The Pleasant Home Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1990, is dedicated to restoring, preserving, and operating this historic house museum. Rent Pleasant Home for Your Special Event The many spacious rooms, layout, and expansive windows looking onto the four-acre park make Pleasant Home a truly wonderful setting for the most intimate meetings or festive affairs: corporate meetings, luncheons, private parties, wedding ceremonies, and receptions. John Farson, a civic leader in the Oak Park community, was the original owner of the home and frequently opened his residence and grounds for grand gatherings. Driehaus Foundation Ice Cream Social Located at Pleasant Home and Mills Park Sunday, August 2, 1-4pm In collaboration with the Pleasant District Association, Historical Society of OPRF and WonderWorks Chil- dren's Museum, Pleasant Home Foundation is pleased to offer a day of fun and free ice cream! Silent Movies on the Porch Fridays in August, starting at 7:30pm On a warm summer night in August, anyone strolling through Mills Park might be lucky enough to hear the sounds of ragtime piano coming from the front porch of Historic Pleasant Home. Laughter can be heard as folks are entertained by the daredevil stunts and slapstick comedy by the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd. First come, first served to seats on the covered front porch. $10 suggested donation, open to the public. Jazz Coffee House: Petra Jazz Duo & Megan Wells Storytelling Friday, September 11 at 7pm Enjoy a night out as Pleasant Home is transformed into a unique coffee house. VIP ticket holders can relax at bistro tables in the historic living room while listening to the gorgeous voice of Petra van Nuis as she creates a 'magical, musical jazz dialogue' with her husband, guitarist Andy Brown. In between sets, award winning performer Megan Wells will captivate the audience with her dynamic and emotional storytell- ing. Guests in the general seating area will enjoy the evening from the expansive covered front porch of Pleasant Home. Coffee service is included in the ticket price. Open House Oak Park River Forest A one day - free admission to area cultural and architectural treasures Free and open to the public. Saturday, September 12 between 9am-8pm Pleasant Home is pleased to be one of the many locations open for this first-time event in Oak Park and River Forest. Guests will be able to freely tour architectural and cultural sites while appreciating small performances by area artists. Theatrical Piano Concert by Thomas Holmes Friday, December 11 at 7:30pm The extraordinarily gifted composer and pianist Thomas Holmes is returning to Pleasant Home to perform a dynamic selection of musical works and original compositions. In addition to his own pieces, Thomas will perform Chopin's Revolutionary Etude while sipping tea, and will even perform a duet with Pleasant Home's very own Violano Virtuoso! Tour & Tea By appointment Pleasant Home Foundation and Serenitea Café present "Tour & Tea" for small groups of two to six guests including an hour long guided tour of Pleasant Home and a relaxing formal tea in one of our many beauti- ful spaces. Complete with a personalized tea pot, finger sandwiches and small desserts. By appointment, $40 per person, reservations required at least 3 days in advance.
