JES Preschool & Parent
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
The objective of this class is to help students feel
comfortable in the water while mom or dad is at their
side. Students will learn elementary water skills that
they can build on as they progress through the various
swim levels. We introduce the WaterSmart Rules that are
encouraged by Sophie the Safety Seal! Min 4/Max 6
Parent / Tot Aquatics
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
This class is for children ages 1-3.5 who have little or no
experience at the pool and are not ready to be on their
own in the water. Your child will learn to be comfortable
in the water through games and songs. Basic swim-
ming skills will be introduced throughout the class.
One adult companion is required for each registered
child (Adult companion does not need to know how to
swim.) Min 4/Max 10
JES Preschool
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
The purpose of this class is to help students feel
comfortable in the water without the presence or mom
or dad. Students continue to learn elementary water
skills and safety tips that will stay with them throughout
all swim lesson levels. WaterSmart Rules are reinforced
for increased aquatic safety. Min 4/Max 6
JES Beginner - Stroke Readiness
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
The Beginner class teaches students the skills needed
to complete a 25-yard swim for each of the following:
Elementary Backstroke, Front Crawl, and Backstroke.
All elementary water skills are reinforced so that they
become second nature to the students. All water safety
rules are discussed as well. Min 4/Max 6
JES Advanced Beginner
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
Students will master stroke development and must
complete 50-yard swims of Elementary Backstroke and
basic Backstroke, and complete 25-yard swims of the
Breaststroke and Front Crawl with rhythmical breathing.
We introduce Scissor Kick and Sidestroke in this level.
Min 4/Max 6
JES Intermediate
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
Strengthens students' coordination of key strokes. They
are asked to complete 50 yards of Front Crawl with
rhythmically breathing, 75 yards of Backstroke, 50
yards of Breaststroke, 50 yards of Sidestroke, 75 yards
of Elementary Backstroke, and 25 yards of Butterfly. We
introduce Sidestroke, Butterfly and treading water.
Min 4/Max 6
JES Advanced
Supervisor: Kyle Sandine
Polishes strokes so students swim with more ease, power
and smoothness over greater distances. Swimmers
should be able to complete 100 yards of Front Crawl with
Rhythmical Breathing, 100 yards of Backstroke, 100
yards of Breaststroke, 100 yards of Sidestroke, 100 yards
of Elementary Backstroke, 50 yards of Butterfly, and
three minutes of treading water. Min 4/Max 6
Aquatics
Winter Lap Swim at OPRF
High School (ADULTS ONLY)
Sundays, Jan 10 - Feb 28,
8-9:30am
Lap swim will be offered Sunday mornings using the
Oak Park River Forest High School Pool. This is an
opportunity for lap swim - no instruction is offered.
Admission not available at the door - must purchase
pass in advance for admission. Pool to be divided
into slow, medium and fast lanes. Access to pool is
through "athletic doors" off Scoville Avenue. Limited
to 40 participants.
