New and experienced sewers are welcome in this two-part workshop, learn how to measure yourself and draft a pattern to sew an A-line skirt with side zipper. In class one: measure and draft the pattern. In class two: sew a draft garment. Participants must be comfortable threading their machine and sewing with basic stitches. In addition to a sewing machine and basic sewing supplies, participants must supply 2 yards of muslin and a 7 inch invisible zipper. Machine rental available. Min 5/Max 8 Let's Get Sewing! Supervisor: Amanda Heiman In this three hour workshop, Angie will teach you how to operate your machine (or help you become more comfortable with it) and understand more about sewing terminology and tools as you sew a pillowcase. Participants will supply 1 yard of 100% cotton woven fabric (quilting cottons and flannels are recommended), sewing machine and scissors. Machine rental is available upon request - please contact the program supervisor. Min 5/Max 8 Sewing Skills: Zippers Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Don't be intimidated by zippers! In this workshop, Angie will help you navigate inserting a zipper as you sew a zippered throw pillow. We'll supply the materials to make the pillow form insert, partici- pants will supply 1 yard of cotton canvas, canvas duck cloth or decorator weight fabric and a 14" all purpose polyester plastic zipper in addition to their machine and basic sewing supplies. Machine rental available. Please note a $5 fee per participant was included in the registration fee for supplies & materials. Min 5/Max 8 Navigating the Fabric Store Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Do you find fabric stores intimidating? There are so many different fabrics, notions and supplies and often no expert available to answer your questions. Bring all of your basic sewing and fabric questions to this on-location workshop as well as projects you need consultation on, too. Angie will help you better understand which fabrics can be used for specific sewing projects and answer questions about differ- ent sewing accessories and notions. She will help you navigate the sewing patterns and how to read a pattern envelope, too. This workshop will meet at Hancock Fabrics in North Riverside. Min 5/Max 8 Craft & Brew Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Grab some friends and come out for Sunday Fun- day: Craft & Brew at the Beer Shop, 1026 North Blvd in Oak Park!
