These one day workshops are designed for students to explore their creativity, get you out of the house in win- ter, and excited about SCAW Summer Camp! Material exploration in addition to guided instruction will make up the 2 hour workshop. Workshops cover a variety of topics and a take home project will be created in each. • Jan 11 - Recycled Art: Clean out your junk drawer and bring your own treasures from home to recycle into art - or use our materials, we'll have plenty to share! • Jan 30 - Bakers Delight: Mixing, stirring, measuring, and pouring your way through baked goods! Take home a recipe and goodies! • Feb 8 - Creative Cooking: We'll mix, chop & prep an edible masterpiece, plus do additional art projects. Give us a heads up on any food allergies! • Feb 27 - Canvas Painting Sketch and prep your final frame-worthy piece - we'll give you the theme! • Mar 14 - Paper & Fabrics: From sewing to writing to collaging, students will explore creative ways to create art with fabrics and paper. • Mar 26 - Sculpture: Create 3-D masterpieces utilizing household items and traditional artists' materials Introduction to the Aerial Arts Supervisor: Laura Greeley This introductory class teaches the basic tricks and stunts straight from the circus and is open to all levels of fitness. Students will learn both the trapeze and aerial silks in a fun and exciting environment. It is not only a unique opportunity but a great way to improve physical strength and coordination. Min 6/Max 12 Class does not meet: 03/31 Aerial Arts: Trapeze Supervisor: Laura Greeley Prerequisite: One full year Beginning Trapeze, Intro to Aerial Arts, or teacher referral Students will learn intermediate tricks and start to co- ordinate aerial moves together to form combinations and routines. Students will learn both trapeze and aerial silks in a fun and challenging environment. Min 6/Max 12 Class does not meet: 03/31 SCAW Arts for Youth Supervisor: Amanda Heiman This 4 week art course will get your child excited about the arts. Each 4 week session will cover a different medium. In each evening class artists will create masterpieces that are sure to be wall worthy: • Section I: Drawing - Line drawing, composition, perspective, light and shadow. In this 4 week session your artist will start with pencil and charcoal then progress on to the use of pen and ink. • Section II: Painting - In this 4 week session your artist will learn how to make/stretch a canvas, about color theory, and will work from different still-lifes and props. • Section III: Mixed Media - Your artist will use different materials such as fabric, paper, found objects, cardboard, chicken fence, and more to make 3D objects. Each week in this 4 week session a different project will be assigned. Min 6/Max 12 Youth Arts Thanks to Geppetto's Toy Box on Lake Street for their sponsorship of the Santa Trolley in December!
