SCAW One-Day Workshops
Supervisor: Amanda Heiman
SCAW stands for School Year Creative Arts Workshops!
These one day workshops are designed for students to
explore their creativity, get you out of the house in win-
ter, and excited about SCAW Summer Camp! Material
exploration in addition to guided instruction will make
up the 2 hour workshop. Workshops cover a variety of
topics and a take home project will be created in each.
• Jan 11 - Recycled Art: Clean out your junk
drawer and bring your own treasures from home
to recycle into art - or use our materials, we'll have
plenty to share!
• Jan 30 - Bakers Delight: Mixing, stirring,
measuring, and pouring your way through baked
goods! Take home a recipe and goodies!
• Feb 8 - Creative Cooking: We'll mix, chop
& prep an edible masterpiece, plus do additional
art projects. Give us a heads up on any food
allergies!
• Feb 27 - Canvas Painting Sketch and prep
your final frame-worthy piece - we'll give you the
theme!
• Mar 14 - Paper & Fabrics: From sewing to
writing to collaging, students will explore creative
ways to create art with fabrics and paper.
• Mar 26 - Sculpture: Create 3-D masterpieces
utilizing household items and traditional artists'
materials

SCAW Arts for Youth
Supervisor: Amanda Heiman
This 4 week art course will get your child excited
about the arts. Each 4 week session will cover a
different medium. In each evening class artists will
create masterpieces that are sure to be wall worthy:
• Section I: Drawing - Line drawing,
composition, perspective, light and shadow.
In this 4 week session your artist will start with
pencil and charcoal then progress on to the
use of pen and ink.
• Section II: Painting - In this 4 week session
your artist will learn how to make/stretch a
canvas, about color theory, and will work from
different still-lifes and props.
• Section III: Mixed Media - Your artist will
use different materials such as fabric, paper,
found objects, cardboard, chicken fence,
and more to make 3D objects. Each week in
