REGISTER ONLINE www.pdop.org/camps 15 Paint & Draw Children will explore the use of a variety of dif- ferent materials and techniques while learning the fundamentals of painting and drawing. Painting I In Painting I students will use and develop their drawing skills to focus on preparing their can- vases for still-life, landscape, and architectural pieces. Students will explore acrylics, watercol- ors, as well as ink washes, in this workshop. Art concepts including line, shape, value, texture, and color will be explored. Painting II In Painting II students will continue to use and develop their drawing skills to focus on preparing their canvases for portraits, as well as abstract and pop-art masterpieces. Students will explore tempera and acrylic paint. Various genres will be discussed and used as inspiration for each student piece. Painting I is not required to be taken, in order to register for this section. Paper & Fabrics Paper—learn how it's made, what it's made from, and then make and dye your own; for journaling, collage, or writing letters. Combining paper with the use of fabrics go hand in hand; join us this Summer as we weave our way through new techniques with the art of textiles. Photo Art & Collage In Photo Art & Collage artists will learn to zoom- in, zoom-out, look at objects or scenery from a different perspective, and create a frame-worthy compositions. Students will use both disposable and digital cameras, create photo collages, and learn what makes up the perfect composition. Printmaking From monotype to multiples, we will learn dif- ferent printmaking techniques and terminology as we pull prints. Printmaking can be done using household materials, through carving wood or simple glue and yarn templates. A variety of materials will be used to create prints. For the upper grades more advanced tools will be used; safety will be part of the curriculum. Recycled Art In this workshop we will transform recycled trash into new creations. rough the use of reclaimed books, bottle caps, buttons, cans, and utensils we will abandon what we know those items to be, and turn them into art. Your artist will be asked to provide materials from home to help plan their refurbished forms. Science Creations From paints to charcoal to chalk and more—stu- dents will create media from scratch to design original artwork, PLUS experiment with science to make art they would have never thought pos- sible. Create a sculpture to protect your egg from cracking in the egg drop experiment, or find out what happens when you mix milk/dish soap/ water and food coloring. Science + Art! Sculpture Explore the realm of 3D art. Utilizing household items and traditional artist materials students will get their creative juices flowing as they transform these materials into 3-Dimensional masterpieces. Spanish In this workshop, students will begin or continue their advancement in learning Spanish. Campers will increase proficiency in all aspects of the language in a fun environment through games, activities, and real-life connections. Stop Motion Animation with Windows ® Live Movie Maker Discover the secrets behind stop-motion anima- tion by using Windows Live Movie Maker. Kids create their own story with toys and clay while adding special effects and audio. Kids acquire tech skills using our trademarked Funutation TEAMS ® hands-on, inquiry-based model. Tek- kies work in teams of four as they investigate and discuss tech principles in action. Theater Your aspiring actor or actress will sharpen their wit, improvisation skills, and confidence in this workshop. Daily lessons include fun and exciting theater games, exploration of emotions, basic stage directions, use of props and more. Partici- pants will also spend time planning, practicing, and finally performing on the STAGE! Woodworking Students will use hammers, nails, glue, carving tools, saws, and wood to fabricate creative pieces they can be put on display. Planning sketches, brainstorming, and safety instructions will start every project as your artist gets creative with wood!
