Intermediate Adult Ballet Supervisor: Stefany Cotton Reveal your inner ballerina. Ballet is a rhythmical dance that enriches the soul and is an excellent form of exercise. You will tone, strengthen and lengthen your body while exploring basic ballet movements and beyond. Previous ballet experience required to join this class. Learn classic ballroom dances with a special emphasis on Swing. e instructor's easy-to-follow teaching style will have you gliding across the dance floor in just a few weeks. You'll learn to Swing, Foxtrot and Rumba and burn some calories at the same time! No experience or partner required. Please bring smooth-soled shoes to class. Instructor: Terry Z. Min 8/Max 25 Class does not meet: 7/4 Latin Dancin' at the Mansion Supervisor: Stefany Cotton Salsa remains (for good reason) the world's most popular "street" or "club" social dance. Here in the Chicago area, this music is featured at different clubs and venues virtually every night of the week. You'll be introduced to the basic steps, leading and following techniques, awareness of the music, and the "flow" of the dance. Meringue included. No partner required. Instructor: Terry Z. Min 6/Max 25 Class does not meet: 7/4 Tai Chi Supervisor: Laura Greeley Tai Chi (Yang Style): Taijiquan (grand ultimate fist) refers to a series of dynamic, connected postures strung together in a smooth, flowing manner. Within the postures are martial art aspects that are largely hidden. Class begins with QiGong sets and moves on to emphasize the 24 posture Beijing style (Yang short form). Class is oen taken on a continuing basis. Learn how to combine static and moving meditations with the Five Elements and cycles of nature to cultivate your energy garden. Season-specific foods will also be introduced. Instructor: Beatrice DeFranco Min 6/Max 20 Therapeutic Tai Chi Supervisor: Laura Greeley Class focus is on using breath and energy techniques common to tai chi & qigong to progressively bring about a state of balance and stability. We begin with chair work to open joints and release tension throughout the body. As the class progresses, we move to more challenging Temple style tai chi (can be done standing or sitting) which supports strength, endurance and balance. Many feel that the most valuable thing about the class is that it retrains the breathing to restore deep vitality. If you are ready to release the tensions that are holding you tight, then open your mind and try something new! is class will combine e Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education and Tai Chi to help you experiment with your body movement to feel more flexible, whole, and connected. Taught through sitting, standing, and lying down guided-movement lessons, participants will learn to increase flexibility, decrease lower back strain, and improve effortless posture throughout daily activities.
