children to the game of basketball if they
are beginners or if they need to know
how to get to the next level. Basic skills of dribbling,
passing, shooting, and defense will be taught.
Games will also be played to show the importance
of teamwork in game situations.

Youth Basketball League
(Boys & Girls Grades 1-2)

Youth Basketball
League for 1st and 2nd graders! is
ten week program will consist of the
first four weeks of practices with the
final 6 weeks consisting of competitive
games with referees. Practice/scrimmages will
be held on Saturdays for an hour. No experience
is necessary, and each participant will receive
their own basketball and jersey. Volunteers are
needed to coach the teams along with refereeing
the scrimmages. Interested adults should contact
Dan Schaffer at dan.schaffer@pdop.org. Times for
practices/scrimmages will be anywhere between
9am-2:00pm and will last for one hour. Player

Fall and Winter Youth Basketball League (Grades 3-8)
Supervisor: Dan Schaffer
is year, there will be both a Fall league AND a Winter league. All players will receive a unique
jersey along with their very own basketball included with the cost of registration. is year, only those players
NEW to the league will have to attend the evaluation day. Volunteer coaches will utilize this assessment as
the basis for draing their team at the coach's meeting. ere will be a limit of 10 players on each team to
maximize playing time. Special requests for team placement cannot be granted.
All practices will take place in Oak Park and start:
• Fall League - e week of October 3; taking place once a week on either Mon. or Wed. evenings.
• Winter League - e week of January 16; taking place once a week on either Tues. or urs. evenings.
Regular season games for the 3rd-6th Grade Leagues will be played on Sundays from 9:00am-7:00pm at Oak
Park River Forest High School. 7th and 8th Grade League games will be played on ursday evenings.
*Due to school availability some games may take place on Saturday.
All divisions will compete in an End of Season Tournament with championship game scheduled to be played:
• Fall League – To be played tentatively on December 18
• Winter League – To be played tentatively on March 19
Volunteer Head Coaches will contact players no later than September 30 for the fall league and January 13 for
the winter league with information regarding your child's practice time & location. Please note that your child's
practice schedule will be consistent for the entire season (same gym, day & time). Volunteer coaches will select
their practice location, time & day of the week based on their availability.

Basketball League. ere will be mandatory pre-season coaches meetings the week of September 26 and
