13 www.pdop.org Adult Skateboarding Supervisor: Dan Schaffer is class is designed for adults who want to brush- up old skills, learn new tricks, or start from scratch. Also, it's a chance for parents of skateboarders to find out why your children love skateboarding so much. Because skateboarding is an individual sport, participants will learn at their own pace with the help of experienced instructors who will give plenty of tips and pointers. Participants must provide their own helmet and skateboard. e skate park will be closed to the public during skateboarding lessons. Min 3/Max 4 Womens Self Defense Supervisor: Chad Drue is program will utilize simple movement techniques, conditioning and focusing to escape from an assailant and render them temporarily disabled. e program concentrates on a repetitive defense approach that can be understood and utilized by most women. You will learn basic punching, blocking and kicking techniques, breaking from one or two hand hold. You will also learn how to tap into your natural power source, control fear and adrenaline, setting verbal and physical boundaries and more! E-evade the attack, S-secure your health and avoid injury, C-collect items that will help defend the assailant, A-act, P-proceed disabling techniques immediately, and E-elevate your training. A valid pass must be presented to the supervisor before entering the gym. is program is for players who have participated in competitive volleyball (high school or college team participation or very competitive rec league play). Min 10/Max 20 Class does not meet: 11/23 Fall Power Volleyball League Supervisor: Chad Drue Competitive volleyball is back! Six teams rotate and play two matches a night using two nets. e teams waiting in rotation must score, officiate and record the games in play. Eight (8) week regular season games plus playoffs are part of this league. Min 4/Max 7 Class does not meet: 11/23 Co-ed Pick-up Dodge Ball Supervisor: Chad Drue is classic grade-school sport is just as exciting as you remember, and way more fun as an adult. is program is casually competitive which means you will have a great time no matter what and it's a great opportunity to get in shape or meet new people! Teams of up to 6 people compete 6 on 6 throwing six, 8.5" rubber coated foam balls at the opposing team. It's a wild time, sure to raise your heartbeat and to bring a smile on your face. Min 12/Max 20 Class does not meet: 11/10, 11/24 Adult Men's Basketball Supervisor: Chad Drue Dust off your sneakers. It's time for some hoops! Practice your jump shot as teams will be formed each program night playing games on a rotating basis. Play only, no instruction is given. Children are not allowed in the facility. Min 10/Max 18 Class does not meet: 10/10; 10/20, 11/08, 11/15, 11/24 PDOP Open Gym Basketball AT FENWICK HIGH SCHOOL! The Park District of Oak Park is now hosting open gym basketball at Fenwick High School for Oak Park residents! Purchase a yearlong open gym pass at GRC or RCRC for only $10. SCHEDULE: • Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00pm • Saturdays, 4:00-7:00pm Please note on certain dates, we will not have access to the gym.
