If there's enough interest, we will add a second bus. Robert McCormick Museum at Cantigny Supervisor: Shari Melde Enjoy two great museums plus the renowned Cantigny Gardens. e Robert R. McCormick Museum is an historic house and museum. e First Division Museum is dedicated to the history of the famed 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. ALSO: enjoy Cantigny Gardens, created in 1967 by renowned landscape architect Franz Lipp. e Gardens offer nearly 30 acres of formal gardens, theme plantings and statuary, promising exceptional beauty in all seasons. We will have lunch at Le Jardin at Cantigny. Min 10/Max 13 Art Institute of Chicago Supervisor: Shari Melde Spend the morning with us as we explore e Art Institute of Chicago! is museum, located in Chicago's Grant Park, displays a vast, permanent collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works. Lynfred Winery Tour Supervisor: Shari Melde Just in time to explore wines for your anksgiving table. Join us for a daytime tour and wine tasting at e Lynfred Winery in Roselle, IL. e day will include an educational tour of the wine production area followed by a guided sampling of seven Lynfred wines. Min 10/Max 13 Christmas Around the World: Museum of Science and Industry Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light at the Museum of Science and Industry is the museum's beloved annual holiday tradition. e museum's 45-foot Grand Tree takes center stage in the Rotunda decked in more than 30,000 lights and surrounded by more than 50 smaller trees and displays beautifully decorated by volunteers from Chicago's ethnic communities to represent their cultures. Stroll through the trees, enjoy intermittent falling "snow" and savor ethnic and choral performances on the Holiday Stage. Overnight Trip to Starved Rock Supervisor: Shari Melde Get away to Starved Rock State Park for one of the best fall color displays in the Midwest! We will leave Oak Park Wednesday morning and head home from Starved Rock Lodge aer lunch on ursday. Upon arrival at the lodge Wednesday aernoon, feel free to relax and unwind in the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna, or strike out on a hike to explore the area. e lodge also offers massages by appointment. On ursday morning, we will enjoy a relaxing trolley ride, and a guided, scenic walk to experience the spectacular colors of autumn. We'll stroll less than a mile over 45 minutes, to take in the sights and sounds of the forest around us. Breakfast and lunch on ursday included. Be sure to pack appropriate footwear as the trails are not paved. Dinner on Wednesday evening and extras will be on your own. Fee is for double occupancy, single rooms will incur an additional charge of $60. Min 10/Max 13 Stronghold Castle and Olde English Faire Supervisor: Shari Melde Take a journey back in time and tour the Stronghold Castle at the Olde English Faire in Oregon, Illinois. Walter Strong (owner and publisher of the Chicago Daily News) and his family built the Castle as a vacation home in 1928. e tour of the Castle will give visitors a chance to explore the Great Hall and the circular Library. e Olde English Faire will include wandering actors who perform both onstage and off. Craers and merchants will display their wares while minstrels fill the pathways and stages with melodies. ere are food booths selling turkey legs, funnel cakes and plenty of other tasty morsels. Craers display their techniques and offer items for sale. Transportation and admission fees are included. Min 10/Max 13 Wright Around Town Supervisor: Shari Melde Perhaps you know about Frank Lloyd Wright's designs in Oak Park, but are you familiar with his other work around town? is custom tour, provided by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, begins with a tour of the spectacular Light Court remodeled by Wright in e Rookery, an early Chicago skyscraper. Take in the spectacular city skyline as you travel along scenic Lake Shore Drive to historic Hyde Park, location of the iconic Frederick C. Robie House, Wright's best known Prairie masterpiece and a precursor of modernism in architecture. While we are at Robie House, we will enjoy a box lunch on the patio. Aer lunch, we will take the bus to Rogers Park to visit the Emil Bach House with its contained geometry, efficient scale, and distinctive window designs. is tour is all inclusive. NOTE: e bus will pick up all participants at e Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio. ere will be no pickups at Dole Center or Fox Center. Min 10/Max 20 Hyde Park Museum Trip: Oriental and DuSable Supervisor: Shari Melde e Oriental Institute Museum is a world-renowned showcase for the history, art, and archaeology of the ancient Near East. See objects recovered by Oriental Institute excavations from ancient Egypt, Nubia, Persia, Mesopotamia, Syria, Anatolia, and the ancient site of Megiddo. e DuSable Museum of African American History, founded in 1961, was developed to preserve and interpret experiences and achievements of people of African descent. Its diverse holdings number more than 15,000 pieces and include paintings, sculpture, print works and historical memorabilia. Min 10/Max 13 TRIPS
