Various race tracks will be set up for all little speedsters to test their cars! In addition, a mini course with remote controlled cars will be set up. Each participant will receive a Hot Wheels car and pizza lunch. Min 6/Max 18 Magic Class!! Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn fascinating tricks from professional magician Gary Kantor. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and will learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session! Min 5/Max 35 Chess Scholars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman No previous knowledge of chess is necessary: players of all levels are welcome. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess BeltĀ® under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned aer martial arts belts. ere will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! Min 10/Max 20 Guitar Stars Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Learning to play the guitar is fun! In Guitar Stars, the children will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing, including holding the guitar and pick, proper fret-hand finger position, sight reading, playing by ear, and playing basic songs. Also, as the children progress, they will have the opportunity to test for "Guitar Belts", a fun motivational system patterned aer martial arts. Each child will receive a participation award and guitar-related prizes. Returning student? Min 5/Max 20 Scouts at the Conservatory (Ages 7-10) Monday, October 10 Supervisor: Leah Pryor Calling all scouts, get growing at the Oak Park Conservatory! Join us for this one day plant adventure open to individual scouts and scout groups. In the morning sessions we will discuss plants and gardens and you'll get your hands dirty planting your own seeds! In the aernoon we will focus on ecosystems and we will build our very own terrariums. Morning session meets requirements for the Bear: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns, Wolf: Grow Something, and the aernoon session meets requirements for Wolf: Grow Something, Weeblos: Into the Wild, Junior Flowers and Junior Garden. $5 Resident / $10 Nonresident.
