3 www.pdop.org Dear Residents, IMPORTANT: Technology Upgrade Beginning on April 2nd, the Park District will be upgrading our online registration system to ease the registration process and provide better support for mobile devices. Online registration could be unavailable for up to 3 days, from the evening of April 2 through the evening of April 5. Expected enhancements include: • A "quick enroll" option to simplify the registration process once you log in. • e ability to multi-select household members to purchase pool and rink passes. • Improvements to user features and performance. We thank you for your patience as our staff adjusts to new registration and payment procedures for our programs and services. Serving Our Adult Population Did you know the Park District is serving the recreational needs of 87% of Oak Park kids between the ages of 5-12? On the fl ipside, the Park District is serving only 18% of our adult population. Since the results of the 2014 community survey became available, the Park District has been on a mission to increase the quality and quantity of our adult programming and we want to inform you of our progress. First, we moved all adult programs to the front of our seasonal brochure as a result of comments received in adult focus groups. Many adults stated they were simply not aware of the multitude of adult programs off ered. Over the past 18 months we have increased the number of weekly fi tness class off erings to over 50. An online reservation system was introduced for fi tness classes so participants can pick and choose classes that fi t into their schedule. Additionally, we decreased the cost of a monthly unlimited fi tness class pass to $45. As a result, over 2,000 additional class reservations have been made in the last year. Since the opening of the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center, we have increased the number of adult nature and gardening class off erings, introducing birding and a book club among other new programs. e number of adult drawing, painting and cooking classes has also increased. We continue to off er adult martial arts, hockey, swimming lessons and sports. We are asking for your help to continue to improve our adult program off erings. Tell us what programs you want and the most convenient times for you. Send your ideas and suggestions to info@pdop.org. e Park District is striving to improve the quality of life in our community, one resident at a time. anks for your help. You Spoke, We Listened When the Park District used a lottery system for program registration, a paid wait list system was in place. e lottery was eliminated two years ago and registration is now fi rst come, fi rst served. We have received comments regarding the wait list procedures and have decided, for the best interest and convenience of our customers, to discontinue the paid wait list system beginning for the spring program registration. anks for your comments.
