Participants will be introduced to aikido techniques and philosophy and will focus on breathing and posture, conditioning exercises, etiquette, and learning to roll and fall properly. Learning basic aikido movements should also be useful to participants in their daily lives. Min 6/Max 15 Class does not meet: 8/11 Continuing Aikido Supervisor: Chad Drue Are you ready for a rigorous Martial Arts program? is course requires the completion of the Beginning Aikido course and the instructor's consent. e focus will be on the requirements for rank testing. e pace is aerobic. Min 6/Max 15 Class does not meet: 7/4 Advanced Aikido Supervisor: Chad Drue Admission to this course requires Instructor's permission. e focus is on advanced body arts and Aikido weapons. Students must have taken a Continuing Aikido class. Min 6/Max 15 Class does not meet: 8/11 Aikido For Kids Supervisor: Chad Drue Aikido is a way of harmony, not combat. Children who study Aikido develop and expand their mental and physical awareness while learning cooperation and respect for others. Instruction begins with exercises to stretch and strengthen young bodies and improve attention, coordination and motor skills. Falling with confidence is a big part of training followed by learning the principles of movement which allows students to practice techniques with partners. Min 6/Max 15 Class does not meet: 8/11 Off-Leash Dog Parks & Permits Residents and non-residents are invited to enjoy the Park District of Oak Park's two off- leash Dog Parks below. Your four-legged friends can expend energy exercising and become socialized with other dogs in a safe, healthy environment while you socialize with other permit holders who share your love of dogs. Dog Park Locations: Ridgeland Commons Dog Park (415 Lake Street) Maple Park (1105 S. Maple Avenue) Prerequisites Permits are required to use the dog parks. To purchase a Dog Park Permit, owners must provide a proof of a valid village dog license receipt in the village of your residency, including the license number. Additionally, proof of vaccinations for the current year, including Rabies, Distemper, Kennel Cough/Bordetella, Para-influenza and Parvovirus are required. Proof of a negative fecal test for intestinal parasites within the last year must also be provided at the time of registration. Park District Dog Park Permits Permits must be purchased in-person at either the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex or the Gymnastics and Recreation Center. Residents must provide proof of residency. Non-Resident pass sales are limited to the first 100 purchasers in a 12 month period. Permits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Dog Park Permit Required for Park Entry Dog Parks use a key card access system. Members must bring their permit card to access the parks. Dog Parks are maintained and inspected by Park District staff. Dog owners, who are not in compliance with Dog Park rules and requirements, may be subject to fines as well as dismissal from dog park use.
