Join us for an introduction to wheel techniques, discovery and exploration as you experience the Park District's ceramics studio at Dole Center. Come ready to get messy and learn the basics. Space is limited. No take home projects in this class, as it is purely an exploration workshop. Min 2/Max 4 Adult Ceramics Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Get creative and express yourself in this fun-filled program that will focus on basic wheel throwing and hand building techniques. e teacher will provide instruction each week along with ideas for projects you can individualize: tiles, mugs, bowls, teapots, and more. Continuing students are encouraged to register and use this class to enhance their skills. Clay, glazes, and firing are included in the fee. Depending on where your creativity takes you . . . class time allows for both wheel throwing and hand building opportunities. Please note the studio only has 6 wheels for use during class hours. All skill levels welcome! Min 4/Max 6 Art in the Park Paint or draw Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Spend an evening this summer with one of our experienced art instructors finding the perfect spot in our park . . . to create art. Each month we will take our easels and paints to another Park District space to observe, relax, and create in the great outdoors. e instructor will support and guide you as you select your materials and subject matter for your unique piece using either watercolor, pencil, or acrylic. At the end of the class, artists will meet indoors to share their art, their experience, and a glass of wine! All materials provided. Min 6/Max 16 Need more time to get your ceramics projects done? Come during designated Open Studio times, offered once a month for current students – no need to sign up, just stop on in Thursdays, June 29, July 27 and August 31, 5:00-9:00P. Family Wheel Throwing Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Explore the use of the wheel and basic throwing techniques in a family-friendly class. Wheel practice will take place weekly in addition to learning the basics of glazing and pottery creation. Fee covers one child and one adult. Please note the studio only has 6 wheels; therefore space is limited. Sign up today! When registering please enroll child only. Min 4/Max 6 Stained Glass Supervisor: Amanda Heiman is is a beginner course to introduce you to the basics of stained glass from safety to design to hands-on craing. e instructor will work with individual students as they fashion the perfect piece from start to finish for their home, office or special someone! $25 materials fee is included in the price of the class to cover the cost of glass, equipment, and tools. Have you taken this course with us before . . . no problem! Join us again as the instructor will work with you to continue your progress in the art of stained glass! All skill levels welcome! Min 5/Max 15 Family Art Night For some creative family fun, see page 60. Intermediate Ballet Supervisor: Candace Lee Reveal your inner ballerina. Ballet is a rhythmical dance that enriches the soul and is an excellent form of exercise. You will tone, strengthen and lengthen your body while exploring basic ballet movements and beyond. Previous ballet experience required to join this class. Instructor: Catherine Tully Min 6/Max 14 Baby Wearing Ballet Supervisor: Candace Lee A Beginner Ballet class for childcare providers and child. Wear your baby as you tone, stretch and strengthen as your baby enjoys the gentle rocking, music and motion that soothes and calms. Min 4/Max 8
