Oak Park Ice Bears Hockey
Fall Hockey Info
www.pdop.org/icebears
Are you ready for the next level of hockey?
e Oak Park Ice Bears are a competitive
youth travel hockey team that competes in the
Northwest Hockey League. Fall season consists of
two practices per week and an average of one game
per weekend.
Season begins in September and runs through
March with a NWHL tournament. Players in
this program will also have the opportunity to
participate in other tournaments throughout the
season as well. ere are no 'cuts' or tryouts for this
team. Registration is taken on a first come, first
served basis. If there is more than one team in a
level, an evaluation will be held in an effort to create
two equal teams as opposed to an 'A Team' and 'B
Team'. Any new player to the program must attend
a pre-evaluation.
How do I know if I'm ready for
Ice Bears?
e Ice Bears look to take recreational hockey
players and give them the travel hockey experience.
Players should be confident skaters and have a basic
knowledge of rules of the game. e Ice Bears are
the next step for players participating in the PBHL
(Polar Bear Hockey League) for multiple sessions.
Players brand new to the league must attend a pre-
season skate.
Ice Bears - Mite Level
(players born 2009-2010)
e Mite team works as a bridge for younger players
to transition to travel hockey. While players at this
level should still have fundamental skating skills, a
focus will be placed on developing strong skating
skills, learning the rules of the game, and learning
to shoot, stick handle, and play positional hockey.
Registration begins in June. For a registration
packet or details, visit pdop.org/programs/ice-bears.
What level am I?
• Mites - players born in 2009-2010
• Squirts - players born in 2007-2008
• Peewees - players born in 2005-2006
• Bantams - players born in 2003-2004
