Hike down the trails and enjoy amazing waterfalls, grand canyons, towering trees and scenic views of the Illinois River! Don't forget to pack water bottles, snacks, and lunches for our adventure packed day! Each additional family member is $10/$20. Trip dependent on weather. Min 6/Max 13 Family Campout Supervisor: Leah Pryor Get an introduction to camping at a site close to home! Roast marshmallows and listen to stories around a campfire, enjoy breakfast in the morning, and participate in other fun activities planned for you and your family. If you do not own your own tent, register for one and it will be provided upon arrival (limited number available). e week prior to the camp out you will receive an email with a list of items to bring! Should inclement weather be a factor on the scheduled date, we will communicate a make-up. Min 8/Max 30 Beginning Birding Supervisor: Leah Pryor Birds are all around us, in our parks, yards and even on the street. Have you ever wanted to know more about them? Join us for this introductory class to learn the basics of birding. You'll learn basic silhouettes, field marks and calls. Don't forget your binoculars because we will finish class with a short walk to practice your new skills through Austin Gardens! First Pair registration includes one adult and one child – please register under an adult. Each additional family member is $5/$10. Min 6/Max 16 Apple Picking Supervisor: Leah Pryor Kick-off the beginning of fall right with a trip to the Apple Holler Apple Orchard! Have fun picking your own apples and spending the day outside in the crisp fall air. Be sure to bring money with you to enjoy the delicious café for lunch. Registration includes trailer ride, 1/2 peck of apples and admission to the family farm for each person registered. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each person in your family must be a registered participant. Min 6/Max 13 Urban Wildlife & You Supervisor: Leah Pryor Take a step out of your urban lifestyle and discover the wildlife that surrounds us! From coyotes to foxes, and squirrels to raccoons, Oak Park is teeming with living creatures. Spend some time learning something new about your animal neighbors and discover ways that you can live in harmony with your furry friends. Each additional family member is $3/$6. Min 6/Max 12 Stuff your own Scarecrow Supervisor: Leah Pryor Get your yard ready for fall with this fun-filled festive activity. Stop by the conservatory to stuff your very own scarecrow! Bring an outfit to make your fall fellow the best dressed scarecrow in Oak Park and we will provide the rest! Each family will take home one scarecrow, registration is per family – please register under an adult. Min 6/Max 16
