Try-it Wheel Throwing

Want to give the wheel a try? Join us for an evening
or aernoon of wheel techniques, discovery, and
exploration as you experience the Park District's
ceramic studio at Dole Center. Come ready to get
messy and learn the basics. Please note there are
no take home projects in this class, as it is purely an
exploration workshop. Space is limited . . . sign up
with friends today!

After School Ceramics
Supervisor: Amanda Heiman
Spend your time aer school in the ceramics
studio. Kids will learn hand building and glazing
skills through specially-designed projects with
the opportunity to create and design their own
masterpieces! An introduction to wheel use will
also be demonstrated and practiced during class
time. All skill levels welcome! Please note there
are only 6 wheels in the studio; therefore, pending
enrollment numbers, not all students will use the
wheel each class.

Teen Ceramics
Supervisor: Amanda Heiman
What a fun way to spend a day with friend's
jammin' to music while makin' art! Sign-up to take
this ceramics class where you will get creative with
the wheel and hand-building techniques to fashion
anything from a jewelry box to a pencil holder to a
coffee mug! Please note the studio only has 6 wheels
for use during open hours. Min 4/Max 6

Teen Activity Council
Supervisor: Peter Hanneman
Teens - this is your chance to provide your input
about the Park District's teen programming! Join
this FREE teen council to make a difference in your
community and help plan and implement the Park
District of Oak Park's teen classes, trips, and special
events! e Teen Activity Council (TAC) will meet
the first ursday of each month at the Ridgeland
Common Recreation Complex Conference Room.
Snacks will be provided and participation in the
TAC can count toward required teen service hours.
e council is free so register today!

Safe Sitter Essentials
Supervisor: Mike Loszach
Featuring an updated curriculum from Safe Sitter
Inc.! Safe Sitter prepares students to be safe when
they're home alone, watching younger siblings,
or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills
such as how to rescue someone who is choking,
and helpful information like what to do if there
is severe weather. e lessons are filled with fun
activities and role-playing exercises. A pizza lunch
is included! Safe Sitter Course content includes:
Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent
unsafe situations and what to do when faced
with dangers such as power failures or weather
emergencies.
Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage
behavior that will help them stay in control of
themselves and the children in their care. Students
also learn the ages and stages of child development,
as well as practice diapering.
Life & Business Skills: e ability to screen
jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set
students up for success now and in the future.
Students practice these skills through various role
plays.

Come during designated Open Studio times, offered once a month for current
students – no need to sign up, just stop on in Fridays, September 29, October 27,
November 17, and December 15, 5:00-9:00P.
