36 www.pdop.org Preschool, Playschool & Pre-K Playschool 2017-2018 (Ages 2-3) Supervisor: Barb Grooms Playschool is designed to provide a warm, nurturing environment for children ages 2-3 years of age. is transition from home to school will emphasize the active development of your child's social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Caring, qualified teachers will focus on preschool preparedness such as: taking turns, following directions, listening, and sharing. Language development is supported through daily theme-based activities that include ABC's, counting, story time, songs, games, and projects. Potty training is not required to enroll; however, upon an accident, parents/guardians will be contacted to return to school to assist their child as our teachers/facilities are not equipped and/or trained in diaper changing. Min 8/Max 12 Preschool 2017-2018 (Ages 3-4) DCFS LICENSED Supervisor: Barb Grooms Our Preschool program offers children an opportunity to participate in a variety of age appropriate activities as they develop socially, emotionally, and academically through PLAY. Students will be introduced to letters and numbers as they explore different themes, shapes, colors, and concepts. Teachers focus on the development of each student's problem solving skills, ability to make real life connections, and peer relationships through everyday math, reading, social, and science discovery. Participants MUST be toilet-trained. Min 8/Max 18 Pre-Kindergarten Program 2017-2018 (Ages 4-5) DCFS LICENSED Supervisor: Barb Grooms Our Pre-Kindergarten program offers a developmentally appropriate, skill based class designed to meet the needs of children transitioning from preschool into kindergarten. Curriculum materials focus on phonemic awareness, writing, math, and reading readiness while promoting independent thinking and problem solving skills. Our program goal is to provide academic opportunities that are critical in developing your child's foundation for future school success. Additionally, this readiness program will introduce participants to basic colors, shapes, and numbers in Spanish as well as English! If program is full, you may sign up for our Waitlist free of charge. 2017-2018 Nature Preschool (Ages 3-5) Supervisor: Barb Grooms Our nature-based preschool program at Austin Gardens utilizes the natural world as a catalyst for a discovery-based curriculum with unique, hands on learning experiences for your sprouting 3-5 year old. Your child will have the opportunity to actively engage in science, math, language, art, and music and movement activities as they interact with nature both in the outdoor multi-sensory garden and plant-based indoor classroom at the sustainably built Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center. A low teacher/student ratio,1/6 will promote individualized learning as children work together, problem-solve, and make connections between themselves and the world around them. Mini-Preschool (Ages 2.5-3) Supervisor: Barb Grooms Your child will have the opportunity to gain confidence and independence as they participate in both open-ended and structured play experiences. Our caring, qualified teachers will provide a balance of cooperative and independent activities that will focus on preschool preparedness. Students must be at least 30 months by 9/1/2017 to participate in this class.
