About Pleasant Home
Pleasant Home is a National Historic Landmark
building designed in 1897 by noted Prairie School
architect George W. Maher for investment banker
and philanthropist John W. Farson. Pleasant
Home is one of the earliest and most distinguished
examples of Prairie architecture in the country
and has one of the best-preserved interiors of
that design era. Visitors experience extraordinary
art glass, custom furniture, intricately carved
woodwork, and unique design details in this
architectural treasure through guided tours.
e Pleasant Home Foundation, a non-profit
organization established in 1990, is dedicated to
restoring, preserving, and operating this 30-room
landmark as a historic house museum.
Tours
Tours are offered year-round to individuals and
groups, including school groups. Our tour program
is the perfect hands-on learning experience
to complement a curriculum encompassing
history, arts, or architecture. Pleasant Home can
also provide breakfast, lunch, tea or dinner for

Megan Wells – Story Teller

Gied Story Teller Megan Wells will entertain
guests with a theatrical portrayal of Lily Texier,
the first wife of Claude Debussy. Live piano
accompaniment will enhance the performance
as Ms. Wells reveals the tumultuous love affair
between Texier and Debussy. e evening will also
include a wine & cheese reception. Tickets available

Twilight Tour
By appointment only
Pleasant Home Foundation presents evening tours
for groups of 15-30 guests. Evening includes an
hour long guided tour of Pleasant Home and a
casual wine & cheese reception in one of our many
beautiful spaces.
$30 per person, reservations required in advance.

Tour & Tea

Pleasant Home Foundation and Serenitea Café
present "Tour & Tea" for small groups of two to
six guests including an hour long guided tour of
Pleasant Home and a relaxing formal tea in one
of our many beautiful spaces. Complete with a
personalized tea pot, finger sandwiches and small
desserts.
$40 per person, reservations required at least 3 days
