Safe Sitter Essentials Supervisor: Joe Lilly Featuring Updated Curriculum from Safe Sitter Inc.! Safe Sitter prepares students to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who is choking, and helpful information like what to do if there is severe weather. e lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. A pizza lunch is included! Safe Sitter Course Content: Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering. Life & Business Skills: e ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays. Min 5/Max 15 Shakespeare, No Fear! Supervisor: Amanda Heiman is class will give young performers the confidence to take on the Bard! Shakespeare No Fear covers the basics and ramps up from there! is class is designed to give students the tools they need to perform Shakespeare with confidence! Min 4/Max 12 No Fuss On-Camera Audition Supervisor: Amanda Heiman is class is for aspiring actors who would like to learn the on-camera skills necessary when auditioning for TV and Film. No gimmicks or promises or fame, just some good techniques to take with you to your next (or first) Commercial, TV or Film audition. Each lesson builds upon the basic tenets of on-camera practical acting and audition methods. is class is geared for actors with beginning to intermediate skills with on- camera acting. Min 4/Max 10 Teen Cooking Boot Camp Supervisor: Susan Crane Get your teen out of the house and away from videos and gaming systems for an aernoon. Send them to the Cheney Mansion kitchen and let Chef Daniel Vogel from Obsessed Kitchen and Bar show them the skills to make a healthy, easy meal using fresh ingredients, proper skills and kitchen sanitation. Min 6/Max 12 Teen/Middle School Ceramics Supervisor: Amanda Heiman What a fun way to spend an aernoon . . . with friends, jammin' to music while makin' art! Get creative with the wheel and hand-building techniques in this ceramics class to fashion anything from a jewelry box to a pencil holder to a coffee mug! All skill levels welcome! Min 4/Max 10 Class does not meet: 3/31 Try-it Wheel Throwing Workshop Supervisor: Amanda Heiman Want to give the wheel a try? Join us for an introduction to wheel techniques, discovery and exploration as you experience the Park District's ceramics studio at Dole Center. Come ready to get messy and learn the basics. Please note the studio only has 6 wheels; therefore space is limited. No take home projects in this class, as it is purely an exploration workshop.
