7 www.pdop.org Park Renewal Projects Future Park Planning Meetings If you love the beauty and expanse of Scoville Park, frequently referred to as the "Village Green," here is your chance to help the Park District plan for future park improvements. A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00P at the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center to review the existing Scoville Park master plan, created in 2010, and identify plan upgrades. e Park District will also be reviewing the master plan for Randolph Park this spring. You are invited to a community meeting on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00P at Fox Center to provide your input regarding the future of Randolph Park which consists of a playground for ages 2 to 5 years and a passive park area with benches and chess tables. Capital Projects Pleasant Home is owned and maintained by the Park District of Oak Park and operated by the Pleasant Home Foundation. In coordination with the Foundation, the Park District is replacing the existing asphalt-shingled roof with a clay tile roof similar to the original roof of Pleasant Home, a National Historic Landmark designed in 1897 by noted Prairie School architect George W. Maher. is project is expected to start in Spring of 2018. In late fall concrete and masonry repair work will be completed on the entranceway to Cheney Mansion. is charming and distinctive historic property is owned and operated by the Park District of Park and hosts numerous private events year round. is project is expected to be completed in early 2019. Park District Recognitions e Austin Gardens Environmental Center was recently recognized with the Excellence In Engineering Award from the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. e National Sports Turf Managers Association recently announced they have selected the Longfellow Park soccer field as the National Soccer Field of the Year. e Park District is honored by this recognition and thrilled to earn such a prestigious award.
