7 www.pdop.org Park Renewal Projects Pleasant Home Upcoming Community Meetings e Park District of Oak Park values community participation and input to help shape the future of our parks and facilities. You are invited to attend a community meeting to review the Lindberg Park master plan on Wednesday, September 12 at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Avenue and provide your input regarding future park improvements. A major renovation of Lindberg Park was completed in spring 2015 based on the master plan created in 2010. It is the policy of the Park Board to review each park site plan within 10 years to plan appropriately in the Park District's 5-year Capital Improvement Plan for future park maintenance needs. is plan is updated annually and available to view at pdop.org. e current Lindberg Park plan is also available on the District's website. Energy Savings through Grant Dollars e Park District is replacing interior lighting at all 7 recreation centers, the Oak Park Conservatory and Rehm Pool to LED bulbs due to the receipt of a ComEd grant. As a result of this bulb replacement opportunity, the Park District will reduce energy usage at these facilities by 43% resulting in an annual savings of $12,250. A similar ComEd grant was received in 2017 allowing the Park District to replace exterior lighting in most parks. Energy and water conservation is a priority for the District. e pursuit of grant monies is an ongoing process which helps us to be responsible stewards of our environment. Lindberg Park NATIONAL PARKS RECREATION DAY Saturday, July 21 More details at pdop.org Capital Projects e aging roof at Pleasant Home is being replaced this summer. is 100+ year old National Historic Landmark originally featured a clay tile roof which was replaced many years ago with an asphalt-shingled roof. To adhere to the Home's restoration plan, the Park District is replacing the roof with clay tile roofing shingles similar to the original roofing specifications. e project began in April and is slated for completion at the end of August. Scaffolding and fencing are securing the construction area however Mills Park remains open to the public and Pleasant Home is open and available for tours. e Field Park playground will be closed for 2 to 3 weeks in May to replace the playground's rubber surface. e playground equipment, installed in 2007, is not being replaced. Pickleball in the Parks Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in our nation and the Park District is all over this trend. Tennis courts at Taylor, Euclid Square and Maple Parks have been lined for pickleball play. is summer the District is offering an Adult Pickleball Mixed Doubles League at Taylor Park. In addition, an informal group of pickleball players meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00A - 11:00A at Euclid Square Park and Tuesday and ursday from 9:00A - 11:00A and Wednesday from 7:00P - 9:00P at Taylor Park. You are welcome to drop-in! ere are many ways for you to provide feedback to the Park District and offer ideas for programs and park amenities.
