Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Children will have an opportunity to test for a Chess Belt under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned aer martial arts belts. ere will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! Min 6/Max 20 Mixed Media & Eco Art Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Traditional art supplies can be expensive. But making original artwork doesn't have to be! Join us as we upcycle and recycle materials that would otherwise be garbage. Create unique and eco- friendly works of art using materials you can find at home! All skill levels are welcome for this fun and earth friendly class. Min 6/Max 12 Yes...and? Youth Improv Supervisor: Megan Ulczak and Barb Grooms Wanna be a famous singer? Or an astronaut in space? Or a famous singing astronaut in space? en improvisation is for you. In this class kids will learn the building blocks of improv like listening, supporting your partner and the concept of "Yes, and". Fun games and exercises will be played to develop social skills, teamwork and self-confidence. e kids will learn how to have fun working together. It is a great opportunity for them to meet new friends. Min 10/Max 20 Let's Build It Supervisor: Megan Ulczak e ball rolls down the ramp, turns the switch, that moves the post, that activates the zip-line, that knocks the ball down the ramp and into the goal! In this STEAM program, students will be building Rube Goldberg "mouse traps" chain reaction machines featuring levers, pulleys, and other simple machines. Engineering and physics concepts will be introduced and reinforced through hand-on, innovative lessons and creative play time. Problem-solving skills and teamwork will be put to the test as the complexity of the projects increases from week to week. On the final class, there will be a building competition – how many contraptions can you connect in the chain reaction? No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to lean and build. Each student will receive an award on the last day of the session, and have the opportunity to earn Energy Belts to demonstrate their learned skills! Min 15/Max 30 Beginner Strings Supervisor: Megan Ulczak From beginner to intermediate, this violin class is made specifically for you! Based on the level of the student, we will the learn basics as well as more of an intermediate level of the violin. Reading music, counting beats and keeping rhythm are major in music. Having fun in class is what we strive for. Come have a great time, meet new students and learn from your peers. Class will not meet 5/4/19 Min 4/Max 15 Archery Supervisor: Leah Pryor Interested in shooting a bow & arrow? Sign up with our certified archery instructors who will encourage and coach all ages and levels! Taken the class already? No problem! Instruction will be adjusted to meet your skill level. Classes will take place indoors. Min 8/Max 10 Kids Make Dinner Supervisor: Megan Ulczak In this six-week course, your culinary artist will create a different course each week as they prepare for their final dinner party, where they serve you! Week 1: Appetizers Week 2: Soup & Salad Week 3: Main Course Week 4: Dessert Week 5: Menu Design & Serving Plan Week 6: Set up & Serve On the last day of class, parents will arrive at 6:00P to be seated to enjoy a well-deserved dinner made by kids. Kids learning to cook is great for the whole family. Min 6/Max 8 Knitting Night Supervisor: Megan Ulczak Let's keep some classic hobbies and skills alive! Knitting is a fun pastime, and it gives you the ability to create wonderful gis for your family and friends! In this program you will learn: • Week 1: Basics - supplies, terminology, starting • Week 2: Stockinet Stitch, knit that headband • Week 3: Casting on (start a new headband/ Scarf ), Purling • Week 4: an hour of knitting and chatting. Min 5/Max 12
