PROGRESSION CHART
AGES 1-13
PARENT TOT (Ages 1-2)
Learn to be comfortable in the water.
Basic swimming skills are introduced.
JES PRESCHOOL & PARENT
(Ages 2-3)
Elementary water skills.
JES PRESCHOOL (Ages 3-5.5)
Focus on water entry and exit, supported
floating and gliding, and beginning
kicking and arms.
JES BEGINNER (Ages 5.5-13)
Floating, gliding, kicking, and alternate
arm motion.
JES ADVANCED BEGINNER
(Ages 6-13)
Intricate techniques of the arms, legs and
breathing in the freestyle, backstroke and
breaststroke. Diving is introduced.
JES INTERMEDIATE (Ages 6-13)
Butterfly stroke, treading water, kneeling
dives, standing dives, and endurance
swimming.
JES ADVANCED (Ages 6-13)
Polishes strokes focusing on ease, power
and greater distances.
Fall Classes are held at Oak Park River Forest High School.
Please note that swimming classes may be at either the East Pool or West Pool, and the entry is
different for each. Please review during registration.
